NBA 2K27 MyTEAM Will Give Player Cards More to Do With XP, Exchanges, and More

The mode will also bring back Triple Threat Online and Clutch Time Online, unify its Auction House across three consoles, and add new card Parallels.

NBA 2K27 is giving MyTEAM a long list of changes built around one simple idea: Player Cards should keep their value long after they leave a starting lineup. An August 18 MyTEAM Courtside Report details a new Player XP system, a revamped Exchange, returning multiplayer modes, a unified Auction House, and plenty more.

There is a lot to unpack here, so let’s start with the feature that could change how collections are managed from the very first day.

The Exchange gives more cards a purpose

In NBA 2K27, almost any Player Card can be sent through The Exchange. Free Agent cards are the exception, but cards earned from Season rewards will also qualify. Cards used to complete a Collection will become unauctionable rather than permanently locked, meaning they can still be submitted to The Exchange after earning the Collection Reward.

The new system will include three main types of exchanges:

  • Premier Exchange: Each Season will feature one of MyTEAM’s top cards, available by trading in a selection of cards from your collection.
  • Regular Exchange Drops: Three new drops will arrive every Friday at launch. Players who begin an exchange will be able to continue working toward it after its timer expires.
  • Flexible Gem+ Exchanges: Higher-tier cards can satisfy lower-tier requirements. For example, a Diamond card can be used for an Amethyst+ exchange, provided it meets the requirement. Cards from packs, the Auction House, rewards, and Locker Codes can all qualify.

That gives unused cards several possible destinations instead of leaving them to collect dust. A card can help complete a collection, contribute to an exchange, or become part of a lineup later.

Player XP lets every Player Card level up

The other major collection change is Player XP. Every Player Card can earn XP by appearing in MyTEAM games, with stronger performances speeding up the process.

Leveling a card can unlock attribute boosts, immediate Takeover at the start of a game, a permanent extra turbo meter, and an additional Badge Slot. Other rewards include Prize Basketballs, packs, and minigames. Some levels will also offer a choice between different boosts, such as improved three-point shooting or driving dunk ability.

Progress is linked to the account rather than the individual copy of the card. If a card is auctioned or used in The Exchange, its XP will remain intact. Reacquiring that same card later will restore the progress and unlocked rewards.

Four new Game Changer power-up cards will support the system:

  • Player XP Boost: Increases a card’s Player XP.
  • Player XP Multiplier: Applies a multiplier to all players’ Player XP in the next game.
  • Clean Slate: Removes a card’s Player XP so its reward and boost choices can be made again.
  • Respec: Allows different reward or boost choices without removing the card’s Player XP.

A cleaner Play tab leads into rotating multiplayer

The redesigned Play tab will put featured Challenges, Dominations, and other current activities at the top of the MyTEAM menu. Favorite modes can be pinned to a separate row, which should make repeat visits to a preferred activity much faster.

Classic multiplayer formats are returning, too. Triple Threat Online will run throughout Season 1 with a traditional ladder and a mode completion reward player. That player can also be used in The Exchange if it does not suit a particular lineup.

Clutch Time Online will return at launch with its four-point line and 14-second shot clock, but it will appear during a limited window. Triple Threat Online and Clutch Time Online will rotate through weekends, Festivals, and full Seasons, with changing rewards and lineup rules such as Salary Cap restrictions, Limited requirements, and Win Streak goals.

The Auction House will share one card pool on three consoles

For the first time, the MyTEAM Auction House will use one shared marketplace across PlayStation®5, XBOX Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. A larger pool of community listings should give players more ways to find specific cards.

Winning an auction on those systems will no longer involve a verification delay before the card becomes available. Sellers will still go through a shorter verification process before redeeming the MyTEAM Points from a completed listing.

The Auction House will be available right away, while the Collections menu will let players wishlist cards they do not own, search for several targets at once, and save frequently used filters. These changes should make shopping for a particular player much less fiddly.

Triple Threat Park and All-Star Team-Up share more features

Triple Threat Park is returning in a nighttime version of Skyline Park, complete with a glowing city backdrop. The area will include 2v2 and 3v3 co-op games, head-to-head team control matchups, and a Showcase Spot where players can open packs and display NBA and WNBA stars.

All-Star Team-Up will sit inside the MyTEAM pop-up store, and both modes will use the same priority-card lineup. All-Star Team-Up games will take place in NBA and WNBA arenas with broadcast commentary. A new matchup screen will show each player’s card, top attributes, and Badges before the opening tip, while team-specific uniforms will appear in All-Star Team-Up and Triple Threat Park Co-Op.

Squad Win rewards in All-Star Team-Up will require three wins instead of five. Daily Win Streak rewards are also being added. Private Squad vs. Squad matches will be available through a new kiosk, with room for up to nine other players to join.

Breakout and Gauntlet are expanding

Breakout will add a progression system that expands the game board whenever players warp during an All Modes run. New free spaces will appear on larger boards, bringing more rewards and route choices. Warp corners unlocked in an earlier run will already be revealed when a new run begins.

Gauntlet is becoming an infinite mode with a seasonal leaderboard. Unlike NBA 2K26’s 100-game route, NBA 2K27 runs can continue as long as the collection still has eligible Player Cards available.

Each Gauntlet game will also pre-select part of the lineup: one card for Triple Threat, two for Clutch Time, and three for Full Lineups. Special shops can appear during a run, letting players trade remaining card uses for rewards or skip the shop to recover some uses and extend the run.

Card Discovery points players toward missing cards

A new Scouting Report section in Collections will record recent Player Cards faced in games. From there, players can wishlist a card or open View Player to see whether it is available in the Pack Market, searchable in the unified Auction House, or tied to a specific mode reward.

Collection Search will also support searches by player name or minimum attribute threshold, showing every available version and its acquisition method. During games, the Pause and Coach menus will display each player’s MyTEAM card when checking the box score or making substitutions.

New Gem Tiers and Parallels add more collection choices

Player Cards rated above 90 OVR will eventually receive their own Gem Tier and visual design. NBA 2K27 will launch with familiar categories such as Amethyst, Diamond, Pink Diamond, Galaxy Opal, and Dark Matter, while more tiers will arrive during the year.

Player Card Parallels will offer alternate visual versions, including Holo, Glass, Gem, and On Fire variants. Duplicate Parallels can be merged into a base card and added to the card’s favorites without changing its XP, Badges, or equipped Shoes. Players can switch between unlocked looks from the menus, and multiple Parallels may add value when completing Exchanges or Challenges.

Daily rewards, Exhibitions, and more MyTEAM changes

Daily Login rewards will use three layers. Players will receive a reward each day, earn extra prizes for three-, five-, and seven-day streaks, and permanently improve future streak rewards after completing seven-day streaks. Lifetime rewards will track total login days across NBA 2K27, whether those days are consecutive or not.

Exhibitions will send bench cards on missions that return with rewards. Players can use lower-tier cards for requirements meant for better cards, but doing so lowers the chance of success. Winning missions builds an Exhibition Win Streak, with a repeatable top reward at the end of the ladder. Some missions can be ended early by playing games in other modes.

New players will begin with a Welcome to MyTEAM lineup built around cover athlete Victor Wembanyama and 10 starter cards. Intermediate Tutorial Challenges will cover Coach Development, Evolutions, Dynamic Duos, and Collection Complete rewards.

Domination will use sets of different lengths. Launch content will include a 33-game set against current NBA lineups and an 18-game set against WNBA lineups.

Showdown will return with a championship condition: players who reach Tier 1 must finish undefeated to earn a ring ceremony, a MyTEAM Arena title, and a Seasonal reward that can be earned more than once. Salary Cap Online will join the rotating Limited Time Modes and may also become a lineup requirement in Triple Threat Online, Clutch Time Online, and single-player Challenges.

Full Lineups are expanding from 13 players to 15, with three slots at each of the five positions. Coaching will move into its own Manage tab, and Coach Points are being removed in favor of Training Challenges unlocked by a coach’s skill level. Shoe tiers will determine the number of Takeover Abilities that can be assigned across Shooting, Finishing, Playmaking, Defense, and Rebounding, with the Takeover system connected to those choices.

Festival events will return, and Event Cards can be converted in The Exchange with one button press instead of being moved through each tier manually. Collections will also receive multi-select tools for sending cards to the Auction House or quickselling them for MyTEAM Points. The MyTEAM Arena will receive a new court look, updated seating, banners, and trophies, while MyTEAM REP rewards will include a mystery MyTEAM G.O.A.T. at the Dark Matter tier.

Triple Threat and Clutch Time will also move into new environments. Triple Threat will use a city street court with swappable floors, while Clutch Time will move to a rooftop court with a digital four-point line. NBA 2K27’s online features require an Internet connection and NBA 2K Account, and console online play requires a separate paid subscription. Crossplay will be available only on PlayStation®5 and XBOX Series X|S.
