Beast of Reincarnation’s v1.0.9 Patch Will Add Requested Fixes, But Players Question Easier Fights

Scheduled for August 25, 2026, the update will add Ultrawide support, more frame-generation options, charm selling, and skippable cutscenes.

Beast of Reincarnation version 1.0.9 is scheduled to arrive on August 25, 2026, with several features players have been asking for. Ultrawide support, more frame-generation options, charm selling, and skippable cutscenes are all coming to Game Freak’s action RPG, although some of its combat changes are already facing pushback.

The update follows a difficult launch for Game Freak’s first original console game since 2019. Beast of Reincarnation released on August 3, 2026, and marked a sharp move away from the studio’s familiar Pokémon style in favor of a realism-inspired action RPG. Reviews have been uneven, ranging from 4.5 out of 5 stars to 2 out of 5, while the game’s Metacritic user score sat at 6.1.

Steam’s user reception was also mixed, with 63% of reviews marked positive at the time of the report. After those complaints began piling up, Game Freak director Kota Furushima apologized to players and said the team still had more work to do. The new patch is the latest step in that cleanup, following the game’s first update, which addressed camera behavior, story pacing, combat timing, and upscaling.

The first patch focused on technical and presentation problems, but version 1.0.9 leans more heavily into player convenience. Selling charms has received universal praise in the discussion around the update, and skipping cutscenes should make repeated story scenes less of a chore. The new Ultrawide option and expanded frame-generation support also give players more display and performance choices.

Players want to choose which balance changes they keep

The less welcome part of the patch is its collection of gameplay adjustments. Acid puddles have been removed, and one boss fight can now be skipped. Those changes may make certain encounters easier, but players who only wanted the new convenience features do not have a way to keep the older challenge intact.

One player summed up that frustration in a Reddit comment: “I wish you could just pick what changes you wanted. I want to sell charms, but I don’t want the 500 other things that are basically just ‘made the game easier because people whined.'” The same discussion questioned why the acid puddles were removed and why a boss encounter could be skipped.

Beast of Reincarnation is now part of a broader difficulty conversation, with recent updates for games such as Elden Ring, Hollow Knight Silksong, and Crimson Desert also making some demanding sections less punishing. Easier options can help players get past rough spots, but bundling those changes into a single update can leave others feeling that their preferred challenge has been taken away.
