Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 Could Be Set After Cyberpunk 2077
References to Soulkiller and Arasaka's weakened position point to 2078 or 2079, though creator Bartosz Sztybor has not confirmed the timeline.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 appears to take place after Cyberpunk 2077, with story clues pointing to roughly 2078 or 2079. The year remains an estimate, but references to Soulkiller and Arasaka’s weakened position place the story in the wake of V’s 2077 assault.
Season 1 and David Martinez’s death are dated to around 2076, after Johnny Silverhand’s death in 2023. Cyberpunk 2077 follows in 2077, when V attacks Arasaka’s headquarters. A season 2 setting in 2078 or 2079 would leave time for those events to become part of Night City’s street lore.
Season 2’s clues include an episode 6 reference to Johnny’s soul being merged with V through Soulkiller, the same system later used in D.’s head. Episode 1 also describes Arasaka as taking more hits than ever and Kung Tao duplicating Soulkiller. The technology had been treated as all but dead before the game’s events, so its renewed use points toward a changed balance of power after V’s attack.
Creator Bartosz Sztybor has not confirmed the order outright. He called revealing the year a spoiler and said in a GamesRadar interview, “There are things in the story that will have the answer to your question,” while declining to say whether the season is definitively set before or after 2077.
