Sony’s $7.85 million settlement could put a small amount of PSN wallet credit into the accounts of eligible players. The agreement comes from a California case that accused Sony and PlayStation of restricting third-party game sales, although the court has not made a final finding that Sony broke the law.
Eligibility is limited to United States residents who purchased at least one qualifying digital PlayStation game between April 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2023. The official settlement management website established for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California says eligible buyers will receive their payouts automatically.
The settlement covers Game Specific Vouchers, or GSVs. That includes a physical voucher or digital code that allows a buyer to download a specific game from the PlayStation Network Store. The available details do not describe a claim submission step, and the deadline to exclude yourself from the settlement passed in July.
Which PlayStation Games Qualify?
The eligible titles span several parts of Sony’s catalog and include No Man’s Sky, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Gravity Rush, the original version of The Last of Us, and the Ratchet & Clank Collection. The full selection is available in the settlement’s eligible games document.
No fixed amount has been published for each qualifying purchase. Multiple eligible purchases could increase a person’s total credit, but the settlement does not provide a per-game rate in the details currently available.
Refunds Will Arrive as Wallet Credit
Eligible buyers will receive their payments as credit in their PSN wallets rather than as cash. That means the settlement may return some money to affected customers, but it will remain tied to future purchases through Sony’s digital storefront.
The case began in California in April 2026 with allegations that Sony had used its position to limit third-party game sales on its platforms. Reaching a settlement allows the refund pool to move forward without a definitive court ruling on whether Sony’s sales practices violated the law.
