Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in active development. The announcement came on July 17, 2026, as part of a broader message about the studio’s future plans.
The studio made clear that neither project has a release date yet. Bethesda said it knows players want to revisit earlier Fallout adventures and confirmed that work is underway on remasters for both games, without sharing launch details or platforms beyond the PS5 focus attached to the announcement.
“We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.”
The confirmation puts long-running talk about updated versions of the two PS3-era role-playing games on official footing. It does not yet explain whether Bethesda Game Studios is handling development internally or has assigned either project to an external studio.
Bethesda previously worked with Virtuos on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which arrived on PS5 in 2025. The studio has also confirmed that Obsidian Entertainment is creating another Fallout game, adding a separate project to the franchise’s growing list of announced releases.

For now, fans have confirmation that both remasters exist, but Bethesda has not provided release windows, gameplay details, or information about how the projects will update the original games.
