Patch Notes

Valve trims CS2 recoil camera movement and irons out a few animation bugs

The April 21 Counter-Strike 2 update also changes how aim punch camera motion behaves under latency and fixes a handful of AnimGraph 2 issues.

Valve pushed a new Counter-Strike 2 update on April 21, 2026, with the headline change centered on camera motion tied to recoil and external aim punch. The patch also made a few cleanup passes in AnimGraph 2, including animation and MVP panel fixes.

Patch Notes

The update keeps the gameplay changes focused on how the camera feels in combat. Valve also continued tightening up animation behavior, which should smooth out a few rough edges that have been hanging around in the newer animation system.

[ GAMEPLAY ]

  • Adjusted camera motion due to recoil to match CS:GO more closely. Bullet trajectories should continue to match CS2.
  • Players will now experience the full camera motion due to external sources of aim punch (e.g. getting shot) regardless of network latency. The effects of aim punch on bullet trajectories are still applied immediately on the server.

[ ANIMGRAPH 2 ]

  • Minor adjustments to viewmodel animations.
  • Fixed several cases where crouch transitions in the air were instantaneous.
  • Fixed a bug where MVP panel characters weren’t resetting correctly.

For Counter-Strike 2 players, this is one of those small updates that can still make a match feel different in practice. If you have thoughts on the recoil camera changes or the animation fixes, share them in the comments. You can also follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
