Epic Games Store will retreat on Exclusives if Steam commits to a different revenue share

In a recent tweet, Tim Sweeney, Epic Games’ founder, and CEO has stated that the Epic Games Store would give up on exclusives under certain circumstances. That being said, he publicly offered Steam a chance to redeem itself, but it may be considered as a rough one.

That being said, he is looking to cheese Steam into committing to a whole new different revenue share with all publishers and developers. His requirement is very clear as it asks for 88% revenue share policy of Steam, that will be realized for all developers and publishers.

That makes no developer and publisher eligible for receiving any inside benefits due to their size or profit. Furthermore, if this conducts, Tim Sweeney claims that Epic Games would add their own games on the Steam platform. You can find the official Tweet below, which namely was a response to a simple question provided by the normal user.

If Steam committed to a permanent 88% revenue share for all developers and publishers without major strings attached, Epic would hastily organize a retreat from exclusives (while honoring our partner commitments) and consider putting our own games on Steam.

What are your thoughts on this? Will Valve lessen their current pressure on publishers and lower their limits? No matter of the current profit, Steam is still a leading digital reseller, but Epic Games Store is surely catching up. Especially, if they continue to snatch exclusives, it may put Steam in a rough position in just a year.
