Xbox will bring a broadcast, two playable games, and a FanFest gathering to Tokyo Game Show 2026 as it celebrates 25 years of Xbox and more than 20 years in Japan. The company outlined its plans in an official Xbox announcement.
The main broadcast will take place on Thursday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. JST, which is 3:00 a.m. Pacific, 6:00 a.m. Eastern, and 11:00 a.m. UK time. Misuzu Araki will host the show, which will feature Tokyo Game Show-exclusive content, new gameplay, and moments created specifically for the event.
Two Xbox games will be playable on the show floor
Minecraft Dungeons II will make its Tokyo Game Show debut after appearing at gamescom. Visitors in Japan will get their first hands-on opportunity with the co-op dungeon crawler before its September 29 launch, when it will also be available through Game Pass. The game’s September 29 launch includes new gear systems, combat options, and a journey through the Sift.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will also be playable through Xbox’s partnership with Happinet. Attendees can try its Multiplayer mode before the game’s global launch on October 23. The title will also appear at Xbox FanFest Tokyo, with the Xbox booth located in Hall 6 at 06-N4. Its October 23 launch will follow the game’s beta period later this year.
Xbox FanFest will open the Tokyo Game Show festivities
Xbox FanFest Japan will take place on September 17 with a watch party for the Tokyo Game Show broadcast. Misuzu Araki and Larry Hyrb will join the event as special guests, giving local fans a dedicated way to follow the show and its announcements.
Xbox’s black cat mascot will also return for the 2026 event. The character appears as a silhouette crossing Tokyo beneath a green skyline, and fans will eventually be able to help choose its name through a vote announced on Xbox’s social channels.
Where to watch the Xbox broadcast
The broadcast will stream live through the official Tokyo Game Show YouTube channel and Xbox’s Japanese and U.S. social channels. Viewers in Japan can use the Xbox Japan YouTube channel for the 4K presentation. The global show will be available through the Xbox YouTube channel in 4K with American Sign Language and English Audio Descriptions, as well as through the Xbox Twitch channel.
After the broadcast, Xbox will add language support for Arabic (MSA), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Māori, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Mexican Spanish, Castilian Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. The program will use both Japanese and English audio, so captions may be useful for viewers watching in another language.
