Sony corrected an ordering bug on the PS5 storefront on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, restoring the best-selling games section to a sales-based order after it sorted titles alphabetically over the weekend. Fortnite returned to No. 1 among PS5’s best-selling games, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 led the pre-orders section.
Before the fix, the alphabetical arrangement created some unexpected results. 007 First Light and 1000xRESIST appeared on the PS Store homepage, while Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve moved ahead of GTA 6 and Modern Warfare 4 in the best-selling display.
Where the PS5 Store ranking bug appeared
Sony’s usual storefront rankings show the most popular games in each country across categories such as pre-orders and downloads. The error affected both the console store and its web version, including the Browse tab.
Search results continued to work normally, which kept the problem limited to the order in which games appeared on those storefront sections. With the rankings corrected, the PS5 store is once again showing the expected sales-based placement.
