Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Will Launch Nov. 5 With 4 Maps and DMZ’s X01 Zone
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players with 120Hz displays will not need VRR for Performance Mode, and Warzone Agent users face new Multiplayer restrictions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is scheduled to launch on Nov. 5 with four maps joining the Multiplayer rotation, including Shoot House’s return, and a new DMZ Exclusion Zone called X01, according to the official Season 1 patch notes. More patch-note updates are due before the scheduled launch. In September, Activision also said Warzone players could make Operators from older games appear as Modern Warfare 4 Operators on their own screens, with the Operator Skin toggle off by default.
Backstab takes place in a snow-covered town, while Canyon pairs open spaces with natural terrain and elevation. X01 sends players into an underground GRANIT Arms facility beneath Hajin, with new areas, DMZ Orders, threats and equipment. Season 1 will also add new modes, weapons and attachments, alongside weapon tuning.
The linear 100-tier Battle Pass will automatically catch players up to the reward for the current day of the season, up to Day 50. Owners who complete all 100 tiers will have an opportunity to earn additional bonus rewards later in the season.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Performance Mode at 120Hz will be available to players with 120Hz displays even without VRR, though VRR is recommended. The notes also lay out restrictions for Warzone Agent, a paid tool that lets users assess lobby skill during pre-match warm-ups and seek easier matches. Players trying to access Warzone with the software running will be told to close it. Leaving it open will block access to Multiplayer modes, while Campaign access remains unaffected. Attempts to bypass the restrictions may lead to temporary or permanent account and/or hardware bans.
Threat Briefing: Battle Tank sends DMZ players after Battle Tank threats, with rewards for looting and extracting armor fragments. Wager Match is marked as coming soon and uses Trophies to earn rewards, including multiple Weapon Attachments, through a 1v1 Gunfight playlist and challenges across DMZ and Call of Duty: Warzone. More camo and DMZ events are planned during Season 1 and Season 1 Reloaded.

Stability
- We have opened up “Performance Mode (120Hz)” for all PlayStation 5 & XBOX Series X|S players with 120hz displays, regardless of VRR support. For the best experience, VRR is recommended.
Unauthorized Third-Party Software
Warzone Agent is an unauthorized, paid third-party application that enables “lobby shopping,” allowing players to assess lobby skill levels during pre-match warm-ups and avoid more competitive matches in favor of easier ones. While Warzone Agent does not provide traditional cheating functionality, such as aimbots or wallhacks, it creates an unfair advantage, undermines competitive integrity, and violates our Terms of Use.
- Beginning with Season 1, we are implementing the following enforcement measures:
- Software Detection: Players attempting to launch or access Warzone while running Warzone Agent will receive a notification instructing them to close the unauthorized software.
- Access Restrictions: Players who do not close Warzone Agent will be prevented from accessing Multiplayer modes. Campaign access will remain unaffected.
- Enforcement: Players who attempt to circumvent these restrictions and continue using the software may face temporary or permanent account and/or hardware bans.
Maintaining a fair and competitive environment is a priority for us. While unauthorized tools may not always resemble traditional cheats, any software that provides an unfair advantage undermines the experience for other players. We’ll continue taking action against tools and behaviors that compromise the integrity of Warzone.
