Microsoft’s latest Xbox Free Play Days lineup offers four games through Sunday, August 30, while the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta will begin Friday, August 28. The full schedule is available in the Xbox Wire announcement.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can play Naruto To Boruto: Shinobi Striker and ARK: Survival Ascended from Thursday, August 27, through Sunday, August 30. Control Ultimate Edition and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are available during the same period for all Xbox members, with no Game Pass membership required.

Naruto To Boruto: Shinobi Striker is celebrating its 8th anniversary with special in-game events. The weekend also brings DLC featuring Naruto Uzumaki in Sage Mode, along with new ninjutsu and costumes. Players can create a custom shinobi or choose a familiar character before joining 4v4 battles built around team tactics and ninja techniques.
ARK: Survival Ascended is optimized for Xbox Series X|S and supports Xbox Play Anywhere. Its survival loop sends players to a mysterious island where they can form a tribe, tame and breed hundreds of dinosaurs and other creatures, then craft, build, and fight to stay alive.
Control and Fatal Fury are free for all Xbox members
Control Ultimate Edition turns a supernatural crisis into a third-person action adventure where the environment itself becomes part of the arsenal. The edition includes the acclaimed game centered on the Federal Bureau of Control and its battle against an ominous force.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves returns the fighting series to South Town with its REV system and multiple battle mechanics. It also offers two control schemes, giving players different ways to handle its roster and fast-paced matches.
Modern Warfare 4 beta starts August 28
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta will begin for all players on Friday, August 28, at 10 a.m. PT. The test will include new multiplayer modes, a playable campaign mission, expanded movement systems, Ground War, and Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence on the new Zodiac map. Operator and Loadout customization will also be available.
Beta progression will stop at Player Level 30, with up to 8 rewards available to earn. One of them is the “Beta Forged” Weapon Blueprint for the Han 86 Assault Rifle. These rewards can be used during the beta and in the full game when it releases on October 23, 2026.
The beta is scheduled to end Tuesday, September 1, at 10 a.m. PT. Players can pre-load the Open Beta from its Xbox Store page ahead of the start time.
How to access the Free Play Days lineup
Open each game’s page on Xbox.com and follow the install option to the Microsoft Store. Members need to be signed in to see the installation option tied to their Game Pass membership. On Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, the games can also be found by opening the Xbox Store, selecting the Subscriptions tab, and scrolling to the Free Play Days collection.
Participating games and editions can also be purchased at limited-time discounts, allowing players to keep their Gamerscore and achievements from the event. Prices, discount percentages, and availability can vary by title and region. Microsoft’s Free Play Days FAQ has the membership details.
