Phoenix Cyclops Joins MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on Nov. 2 With a Risky Dark Phoenix Form
The first Year 1 Pass fighter arrives Nov. 2, and four Solar Shards unlock a temporary Dark Phoenix boost that can drain his health.

Phoenix Cyclops joins MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on Nov. 2 as the first Year 1 Pass fighter, and his gameplay trailer gives the Phoenix Force a costly payoff. Four Solar Shards unlock Dark Phoenix form, but the temporary power boost can drain his health.
Arc System Works announced Phoenix Cyclops in July as the first of four Year 1 Pass fighters, drawing on Scott Summers’ Phoenix Five incarnation from 2012’s Avengers vs. X-Men event.
Arc System Works scheduled the gameplay trailer premiere for Oct. 7 at 10 AM PST in an announcement on X.

The official gameplay breakdown describes Cyclops as an all-rounder who can use Optic Blasts at long and close range. His kit also includes projectiles, rushing attacks, throws, setup tools, and wide-area fire attacks that can control large portions of the screen.
Using Optic Blasts builds Phoenix Force energy called Solar Shards. Collecting four lets Cyclops transform into Dark Phoenix, gaining a significant temporary power boost at the cost of health. The mechanic draws on Avengers vs. X-Men, in which Cyclops became one of the Phoenix Five and eventually absorbed his teammates’ power. Choosing when to take that risk is central to making the transformation count.
Why Phoenix Cyclops takes the roster spot
Standard Cyclops was considered for the Unbreakable X-Men, but his familiar look and fighting style pushed the developers to find a different interpretation. They chose the Phoenix version to give the character a fresher visual identity and a distinct fighting style.
This Scott Summers believes in absolute justice and is willing to take extreme measures to save mutantkind from extinction. His younger appearance contrasts with the Phoenix Force’s imposing presence, while Dark Phoenix reflects his shift from idealistic leader toward corruption. Ray Chase voices the character.
Phoenix Cyclops’ Classic and Legacy costumes arrive on Nov. 2 alongside the fighter. The Oct. 7 schedule also included the game’s first PlayStation Store sale, with the Ultimate Edition discounted. A three-hour Game Trial is now available to PS Plus Premium members. Players attending EVO France from Oct. 9 to 11 will get an earlier chance to try the character.
