FUT punched its ticket to the Esports World Cup 2026 grand final with a 2-1 win over FURIA on August 22, surviving a tense series that ended with an overtime Dust2 decider. The result also gives FUT its first Big Event grand-final appearance and leaves the team as the event’s only unbeaten contender with a perfect 5-0 record.
Two of those five tournament wins came against MOUZ on separate occasions. FUT’s roster averages 20 years old, and in the team’s first full year at tier one, it is now one series win away from adding a championship to its breakthrough run.
FUT became the first team through from the day’s semifinal doubleheader. Its match against FURIA was the opening best-of-three, as outlined in the EWC 2026 semifinal schedule.
Match thread: FURIA versus FUT semifinal

Ancient and Nuke set up the decider
The veto sent FUT to Ancient and FURIA to Nuke, with Dust2 remaining as the decider. FUT also removed Inferno and Cache, while FURIA banned Anubis and Mirage before the final map was selected.
The semifinal opened on Ancient, where FUT secured a 13-11 victory. Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov and Dmytro “dem0n” Myroshnychenko turned a 2v4 situation into a round win, helping FUT build a first-half lead on the T side. A key retake in the 10-11 round then pushed FURIA into difficult buys for the rest of the map.
FURIA answered on Nuke with a convincing 13-6 scoreline. Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis produced a 1v3 that helped the Brazilian-majority lineup take control of the T side, while FUT gave away a couple of favorable situations. Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato also made a pistol round his own with three Dualies kills, sending the teams to Dust2.
Dust2 goes beyond regulation
FURIA made the early running on Dust2 after Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo found two kills during a force-buy round. FUT refused to let the map slip away, recovering from two separate 3v5 situations and later converting a 2v4 on the B site to reach match point.
FURIA forced at 11-11, but FUT answered with aggressive pressure through Lane. FUT ultimately closed Dust2 16-13, with a later double backstab from FURIA delaying the result and sending the teams into overtime.
dem0n won another 4v2 situation before finishing the match in a one-on-one duel against Danil “molodoy” Golubenko.
Spirit build a lead over Legacy
While FUT secured the first grand-final spot, the second semifinal was still in progress. Spirit led Legacy 19-7 at halftime on Dust2 after recovering from an early 1-5 deficit. Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov finished the half with a 19-7 scoreline, while Legacy won four of the final five rounds before the break to keep the map from slipping away completely.
Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia helped Spirit recover from the poor start. The Russian team settled into the matchup with proactive stacks and patient mid-round play, despite having no previous history with this Legacy core. Legacy still found a few late answers, including a clutch from Santino “try” Rigal.
Legacy entered the semifinal after taking down Natus Vincere and Falcons in 2-0 victories. Its veto left Inferno and Anubis banned, Ancient as the second map, and Mirage as the decider. The winner had not yet been decided when the live match coverage reached halftime.
More rounds that shaped the series
Several individual plays swung the economy and kept both teams within reach. FalleN stopped Krabeni’s 1v4 attempt. KSCERATO’s Dualies produced both a three-kill pistol-round swing and a separate quad that helped FURIA secure a round.
YEKINDAR also found a way behind FUT for another 1v3, while KSCERATO’s Dualies triple helped FURIA close Nuke quickly.
On Dust2, FUT turned another disadvantage around at 10-10 before FURIA’s double backstab delayed the result and sent the teams into overtime.
FUT will now play in the Esports World Cup grand final scheduled for August 23, 2026, at 13:30 in Paris against the winner of the other semifinal between Spirit and Legacy. FURIA’s run ended in the semifinal despite taking its own map pick.
