Warcraft III: Reforged Adds Forsaken Kingdom Campaign 23 Years After The Frozen Throne
The two-part campaign begins with Arthas before moving into the Undercity and the Forsaken Kingdom.
Warcraft III: Reforged now has its first new campaign since The Frozen Throne arrived in 2003. Blizzard announced Forsaken Kingdom at BlizzCon and made the two-part campaign available on September 12, 2026, giving the 2020 remaster a new story nearly 23 years after its last expansion.
Forsaken Kingdom offers more than 30 hours of gameplay across the final days of Lordaeron and the origins of the Undercity, leading into the opening period of World of Warcraft. The campaign is available for $30 through the Battle.net store, and its release also comes with a free 3.0 update and a definitive edition upgrade for Warcraft III: Reforged.
Forsaken Kingdom starts with Arthas and moves to the Undercity
The campaign opens with a prologue focused on Arthas, the central antagonist of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Its main story then turns toward the Undercity, the capital of the undead Forsaken Kingdom, while exploring how the city came into being.
Sylvanas, Putress and the Scarlet Crusade all play a role in that part of the campaign. Blizzard is using the setting to revisit one of Warcraft’s most recognizable factions through a story built for the classic real-time strategy game.
Warcraft III: Reforged gets a broader 3.0 upgrade
The free 3.0 update brings a full graphical overhaul and adds the Forsaken Paladin as a new neutral hero. It also raises the group selection limit to 24 units, giving players more room to manage their armies in the real-time strategy game.
Blizzard has improved the world editor with better lighting and environments as well. Those changes give the new campaign more room to show off its updated presentation while adding tools for players who want to create their own scenarios.
Forsaken Kingdom costs $30 through the Battle.net store, with regional pricing listed at $29.99 / £24.00. A bundle containing the DLC and the base game costs $49.99 / £41.99.
Forsaken Kingdom is the first Warcraft III campaign released since The Frozen Throne, which followed the original 2002 game in 2003. Players can now return to Reforged for the Arthas prologue and the Undercity-focused story without waiting for a future release window.
