Former Rockstar developers ask GTA 6 fans to enjoy the game and back their legal case
The 34 workers say proceeds from an Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain T-shirt will help fund their case ahead of a final hearing in September 2026.
Thirty-four people who worked on Grand Theft Auto VI and were dismissed from Rockstar in 2025 are asking fans to keep supporting the game while helping fund their legal case. Rather than calling for a boycott, the former developers are directing supporters toward a new charity-style merchandise campaign.
The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain T-shirt was launched to raise money for legal proceedings involving all 34 former Rockstar developers. The group says fans can experience the world they helped create while still standing behind the workers’ case.
A video promoting the campaign features representatives of the affected developers, who describe years of work on Grand Theft Auto and ask for support for their legal fight. They also say the dismissals happened without representation, evidence, or an opportunity to respond.
The case is heading toward a September hearing
The workers’ final hearing is scheduled for September 2026. They plan to present their closing arguments over whether Rockstar’s decision to dismiss the group violated the law.
Thirty-one of the affected workers live in Britain, while the other three are based in Canada. Their dismissals were followed by protests and demonstrations outside Rockstar’s base in Edinburgh.
The legal dispute is unfolding as Take-Two’s November 19, 2026 target for Grand Theft Auto VI remains in place. The former developers’ message is that the game’s release and their case can exist side by side: fans do not have to reject GTA 6 to support the people who worked on it.
