Escape the Backrooms Debuts Dossiers for 2 Community Levels

The first M.E.G. Field Dossiers profile a dangerous movie theater and Level 993.1's toxic cloud corridors.

Escape the Backrooms is beginning an M.E.G. Field Dossier series for community-designed levels, with its first two profiles appearing in the Steam announcement. The files lay out survival hazards and escape routes for The Window Theatre and Level 993.1, Cloud Nine.

The Window Theatre is a Class 5 movie theater

Submitted by Howlingwolf1111, The Window Theatre is an abandoned 1990s multiplex haunted by Window entities. The dossier identifies the Mother Window as its main threat and warns of Window Walkers around the server farm, along with poster mimics in the corridors. A concession and party area offers a safer place to regroup.

Escaping means finding a server-farm key and replacement DVD in the closets, restoring power, and swapping the active reel. The DVD swap disarms the Mother Window, and a Window Plushy can help with stealth. Once the film is changed, the projection screen becomes the exit.

Cloud Nine mixes toxic clouds with a hidden route

Marjuice123’s Level 993.1 has a variable survival classification. Its shifting rooms open onto expanses of toxic clouds, which can cause suffocation, while exposed ledges bring a fatal fall risk. The dossier also flags fake windows near openings, so an apparent way out may be another hazard.

The main exit is a sky-wallpapered elevator activated by pressing every floor button. A separate “Uncharted Territory” sequence begins at a breach elevator and leads across an endless grass plain to a solitary black doorway.
