Diablo 2 Resurrected season 14 puts WASD back on the table and clips the Warlock’s wings

Blizzard also tuned Terror Zones, polished controller play, and moved old seasonal characters to non-ladder groups as Season 14 went live.

Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 14 is live now, and Blizzard has brought back bindable WASD movement while pushing a fresh round of Warlock changes after PTR feedback.

The update does not stop at movement options. It also touches controller support, Terror Zones, demon-binding rules, and a handful of class tuning passes that shape how the new Warlock plays from top to bottom.

Blizzard previously tested WASD controls in 2024, then pulled them back. Season 14 brings them back as keyboard movement keys that can be bound again, which should give players another option besides click-to-move. The studio also cleaned up controller play, fixing loot filter and stash issues on a pad.

The biggest combat shifts center on the Warlock. Blizzard said PTR feedback helped reshape the class, and some of that work is aimed at what it described as the skill’s “slightly awkward mechanical approach” around Miasma damage. The result is a set of nerfs and system changes that make the class less explosive in a few places while fixing bugs and tightening the rules around how its abilities work.

Patch Notes

Here is the short version of what changed in Season 14: WASD movement returned, controller play got a polish pass, Warlock damage was toned down in several places, and Terror Zones were adjusted so loot and enemy spawns feel more even across tiers.

  • WASD support returned as bindable keyboard movement keys.
  • Controller support was updated, with loot filter and stash issues fixed while using a pad.
  • Warlocks can only equip a two-handed weapon in one hand if the other hand is holding a grimoire.
  • Warlock health potions went from 100% effectiveness to 150% effectiveness.
  • In the Chaos tree, Ring of Fire, Flame Wave, and Miasma Bolt had their damage scaling reduced.
  • Abyss now caps its maximum radius at 11 yards.
  • Miasma Chains now apply next-hit delay separately to each chain.
  • Blizzard said the Miasma changes were meant to preserve the class’s “slightly awkward mechanical approach” by placing most of the damage in the cloud.
  • Echoing Strike in the Eldritch tree now has more base damage, but its bonuses work additively instead of multiplicatively.
  • The durability bug tied to Echoing Strike stayed in place as part of its “intended fantasy.”
  • Eldritch Blast now has a fixed 5% life and mana steal rate instead of scaling up to 20%.
  • Bind Demon now needs a base skill investment of 10 points for champions, 15 for uniques, and 20 for super uniques.
  • Some super uniques need even more damage before they can be bound.
  • Bind Demon now has a max-health cap for each demon type, a reduced bind chance, lower mana cost, and an audio cue when the target cannot be bound.
  • Tainted summons lost some synergy with Blood Boil.
  • Blood Boil now scales its range with skill level.
  • Demonic Mastery and Engorge now use skill-based attack speed bonuses instead of item-based ones.
  • Blood Oath’s “damage taken goes to your demon” stat now uses diminishing scaling and benefits correctly from bonus skill levels.
  • Terror Zones were tweaked so higher-tier Herald hunts are spread more evenly, with less chance of excessive loot dropping when enemies die.
  • Colossal Ancients were adjusted to stay more consistently challenging across different character builds.

Blizzard also said it will keep watching Miasma feedback to see whether more changes are needed. The studio left most of the earlier PTR damage values in place after deciding the bug fixes were enough to push the class toward the feel it wanted.

Season 14 also affects character flow outside the live ladder. Previous seasonal characters moved to non-ladder groups, and the items in their shared stash went to a withdraw-only tab that stays available until Season 15 starts. If you care about those items, Blizzard wants you to pull them out before the next reset.
