1win won Moscow Cyber Games and secured an invitation to Stage 2 of the PGL Major Singapore. HOTU finished second, missing the chance to guarantee a Major invite with a win, but remain in contention for the final European spot.
HOTU nearly forced a different result on Dust2. Down 4-8 against world No. 14 1win, they fought back to 11-11 before failing to stop a B-site execute in round 23.
Before Moscow, HOTU’s RLG Tesla Cup win had lifted their projected invite chance to 73.3%, and the Moscow event was their last tournament before the cutoff. In an interview with HLTV, David “n0rb3r7” Danielyan said the team had stopped thinking about qualification after mixed LAN results and missed opportunities at 1win and Stake events. He credited three months of bootcamp practice with helping the squad progress, describing the current roster as having more firepower than its predecessor while dwushka was less experienced than his teammates. Danielyan acknowledged that a long stretch together could wear on the players, though he believed the work was paying off.
After the second-place finish, the qualification simulator ranks HOTU third among the candidates for the final European invitation. 100 Thieves can claim the spot by winning FiRe Last Chance in Argentina. fnatic, currently 18th in Europe, need 100 Thieves to fall short and an opponent-network recalculation to favor them.
HOTU have a reason to back 100 Thieves. HOTU beat Wildcard earlier this year, and a recalculation would make that win more valuable. If BESTIA or BARCA wins FiRe Last Chance, fnatic become the likeliest team to receive the invite. fnatic’s current standing is available in the European rankings.
