Counter-Strike 2’s new C4 patch trims damage and tidies up a few bugs
Valve published the July 9, 2026 update with changes to new C4 explosions, a sticker tweak, and fixes for medals and the scoreboard.

Valve published a Counter-Strike 2 update on Steam on July 9, 2026, and this one is mostly about cleanup. The biggest gameplay change is a rethink of the new C4 explosion behavior, which no longer leaves every map with a guaranteed minimum point of damage. Valve also touched the Armory, fixed a season medal display issue, and smoothed out a scoreboard bug.
There is not a flashy content drop here. Instead, Valve focused on how the new C4 behaves near map boundaries, how it pushes dropped weapons, and a few small presentation problems that could turn into a nuisance during matches.
Patch Notes
Counter-Strike 2 Update
[ GAMEPLAY ]- Removed map-wide minimum one point of damage from new C4 explosions.
- Fixed a case where new C4 damage was calculated incorrectly near boundaries to other map areas.
- New C4 explosions now apply more force to dropped weapons.
- Adjusted the “Sniper Ahead” sticker visibility when scraped.
- Fixed a case where season medals were missing their gold tint on one of the bars.
- Fixed a case where the scoreboard wouldn’t update while open.
- Various stability improvements.
It is a small patch on paper, but the C4 changes matter more than they look at first glance. The bomb damage logic was adjusted in two places, and dropped weapons now react more strongly when the new explosions go off nearby.
