Halls of Torment’s Oct. 27 Patch Lets DLC Artifacts Drop From Any Lord

The update also fixes ability behavior and lets players rebind Cancel/Close or pause music when the game loses focus.

Halls of Torment’s Oct. 27 patch lets DLC artifacts drop from any Lord, rather than only Lords from their own DLC, and gives the Lord of Deceit a new main drop, the Unholy Fountain Pen. Chasing Carrots also fixed bugs across character traits and a long slate of abilities in its Oct. 27 Steam patch notes.

An earlier preview of The Lost Archives described the Unholy Fountain Pen as trading a selected Mark’s bonus for 2 random bonuses while preserving class traits.

Several ability fixes address how effects work in a run. Judging Light projectiles no longer count as Transfixion for upgrades and traits, Blood Rite carries fractional Multistrike into later hits, and Prismatic Cascade’s lightning chains jump from the last enemy struck. Players can also close scrolls and chests with Esc, rebind Cancel/Close, and pause music when the game loses focus.

Halls of Torment Patch Notes for Oct. 27, 2026

Fixes

  • Fixed a rare crash that could happen when right-clicking.
  • Judgement and other effect chances now apply correctly to the abilities that grant them.
  • The Blood Apostle trait now correctly adds Affliction Chance.
  • Characters’ trait level requirements now match those of the older characters.
  • Kill-count multipliers no longer affect Bogland (kill-count) worlds.
  • Fixed the wrong text on the Bogland time trial quest unlock.
  • Fixed a typo in the Leeching Fingers item.

Ability Fixes

  • Blood Rite: Fractional Multistrike now carries over to the next hits instead of being dropped.
  • Concentrated Strikes (Lightning Strike): The damage bonus against electrified, burning or frozen enemies now actually works.
  • Confetti Canon IX (Crit Chance): It now gives the right amount of Crit Chance and no longer clashes with Confetti Canon V. The name is fixed too (it was shown as “XI”).
  • Deflecting Return (Ring Blades): The defense bonus now waits 1 second after the last hit before it starts to decay.
  • Heat Blast (Dragon’s Breath): Fixed the push direction when combined with Stream of Fire.
  • Judging Aura (Radiant Aura): Consecutive pulse hits are now counted correctly, so the Execution triggers as intended.
  • Judging Light:
    • Projectiles no longer bounce more often than they should.
    • Projectiles were counted as Transfixion, so Transfixion upgrades and traits affected them. They now count as Judging Light.
    • Split Sentence: Split copies now bounce off in a mirrored direction instead of always flying right.
    • Rebounding Judgement: Its Judgement Chance now shows in the stats.
  • Kick Bass: Upgrades that change the damage type now apply properly.
  • Prismatic Cascade: Lightning chains now jump from the enemy they just hit, not from the starting point.
  • Slowing Forces (Wall of Death): Now applies Slow as described (it was applying Frost).
  • Thunder Judgement (Kugelblitz): The mass Execution now only triggers when the killed enemy actually had Judgement stacks.
  • Transfixion: With three extra emitters from upgrades, the blades now spread evenly in all directions.
  • Sanguine Pendulum: Can now echo the HP sacrifices of Blood-Tempered Strike, Bloodcrystal Splinters and Blood Lightning. Echoed sacrifices from Blood-Tempered Strike also charge up its next strike.

Changes

  • DLC artifacts can now drop from any Lord, not just the Lords of their own DLC.
  • The Lord of Deceit has a new main drop: the Unholy Fountain Pen.
  • Iron Maiden’s Crown and Bulwark of the Faithful no longer affect breakable objects.
  • Strong Growth (Undergrowth): Removed the extra Max Health bonus when vines wither.

Quality of Life

  • Scrolls and chests can now be closed with Esc, and “Cancel/Close” can be rebound.
  • New option to pause the music when the game loses focus.
  • The Blood Rite abilities now say that they’re mutually exclusive.

Descriptions Corrected (behaviour unchanged)

  • Arcane Shivers, Purging Flame, Thunder Judgement (now “33% chance”), Retributive Slam and Spectral Counter (cooldown is 0.1s, not 1s), the Prismatic Cascade elements (+15% Trigger Chance, not +25%), Deeply Rooted and Strong Growth.
  • The Prismatic Cascade Earth upgrade was wrongly named “Elemental Rift: Fire”.
