War Thunder Will Rework CCRP Controls to Keep Manual Bomb Drops Available

The updated release cue will stay visible during toss bombing and show pilots their course deviation and time to target.

War Thunder’s next major update will rework CCRP bombing controls so pilots can use automatic targeting without losing access to manual bomb release. Gaijin’s Steam announcement says the redesigned controls will remove conflicts with standard bomb dropping and reduce on-screen clutter.

CCRP, or Constantly Computed Release Point bombing, became more central after Nuclear Escalation made it the primary method for delivering nuclear strikes. Under the old setup, CCRP and manual drops shared a release button, so activating the automated mode could block a manual drop. Arming the release mechanism at the start of a run could also interfere with manual release if a target had been set through the optical sight.

The new controls will not require a dedicated button, and manual bomb release will remain available even with a point of interest active. The automatic-release indicator will sit within the battlefield view without blocking it. During a pull-up maneuver, or toss bombing, the indicator will stay at the bottom of the screen so pilots can keep track of timing and heading.

A previous War Thunder update fixed bombing target markers that shifted in cockpit and targeting-pod views. The newly announced redesign addresses a different part of the process, the controls used to release bombs.

CCRP lets pilots designate a ground target and release bombs toward it even when they cannot see the target directly. Players can set a point of interest with Alt + Middle Mouse Button or by clicking the minimap, then activate automatic release from the quick-action panel or assign it to a key. The indicator shows the required heading, current course deviation, and time remaining until the target. When it aligns with the bombsight, the system releases the bomb. If the course deviation is too large, the indicator stays gray and the bomb will not release.

The weapon selector, bound by default to Caps Lock or Left Shift + S, lets players choose which bombs to drop. Left Shift + B changes the quantity, including a single bomb, a pair, or a salvo.
