War Thunder’s F-89D Sale Runs Through August 17
The premium interceptor costs 5,278 Golden Eagles until 09:00 GMT on August 17.

War Thunder has placed the F-89D on sale for 5,278 Golden Eagles, cutting its price by 30% for a limited promotion tied to the aircraft’s first-flight anniversary. The offer runs from August 13 at 09:00 GMT until August 17 at 09:00 GMT, as detailed in a Steam announcement.
Players can find the aircraft through USA > Aviation > Premium vehicles. The F-89D can only be purchased during the promotion, so the sale window is also the only current opportunity to add it to a collection at the reduced price.

What the F-89D brings to battle
The discount marks the anniversary of the Northrop F-89 Scorpion prototype’s first flight on August 16, 1948. The aircraft was the first to carry air-to-air rockets with nuclear warheads and was among the earliest American fighter jets to use guided missiles.
In War Thunder, the F-89D serves as a very fast interceptor, but it does not have forward-firing guns. Instead, it carries 100 proximity-fuzed FFAR “Mighty Mouse” rockets. Those rockets can be difficult to land against agile fighters, while bombers and larger aircraft provide much more forgiving targets and can suffer devastating damage.
