Lucasfilm Games Is Considering Star Wars Pitches From More Studios
Douglas Reilly says Lucasfilm is weighing ideas from larger and smaller partners while keeping an experienced-team quality bar.

Lucasfilm Games is considering Star Wars pitches from a wider range of studios. Executive Douglas Reilly says the company is more flexible about partners while still expecting experienced teams and excellent games.
Speaking on The Game Business Show, Reilly said Lucasfilm is exploring projects with both large and small partners, and expects some collaborations to surprise fans.
“You don’t have to necessarily be a top five publisher to make a great Star Wars game,” Reilly said. He added that Lucasfilm wants excellent experiences and typically works with experienced teams rather than developers with no track record of making strong games.
Smaller studios are already part of the franchise’s lineup. Bit Reactor’s turn-based tactics game Star Wars Zero Company launched on August 27, 2026. Fuse Games’ arcade racer Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched on October 6, 2026. Their Metacritic scores are 85 and 88, respectively.
Disney’s 10-year exclusive deal with EA expired in 2023, opening the franchise to other partners. The current slate also includes a third Star Wars Jedi game in development at EA’s Respawn, while Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse remains a less certain project.
