Microsoft is shutting down Mixer, their only streaming service, which for previous years has managed to recruit a couple of popular streamers from Twitch. The Company has plans to team up with Facebook Gaming to bring xCloud to life. The end of Mixer is assigned for July 22, where its apps and features will direct to Facebook Gaming.
Was the migration successful for the paid actors such as Ninja and Shroud in the long term? The contracts that landed have probably carried a decent amount of money, but seem to have not sustained a long period of time.
Well, according to theverge.com, Ninja, and Shroud, who have transferred from Twitch to Mixer, have been probably released of their contracts (perhaps including other popular streamers). They are free to get back on Twitch, or maybe even join some other popular streaming service such as YouTube.
Regarding services under the control of Microsoft, it wouldn’t be the first time to see Microsoft giving up on its creations.
