Ubisoft Will Shut Down Champions Tactics on October 30
The NFT-focused tactics game had already started removing its blockchain features before Ubisoft announced the closure.
Ubisoft will shut down Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles on October 30, 2026, ending the short-lived run of its NFT-focused tactics game. Until the servers close, Ubisoft says the game will remain playable.
The publisher announced the decision through the game’s official FAQ and official Discord. Ubisoft described the closure as a decision made after reviewing the game’s future, while promising to keep the experience available during its final months.
Champions Tactics launched in 2024, at a time when Ubisoft was still testing blockchain-based game features. The project centered on collectible Champions, with NFTs forming part of its original structure. It was one of two NFT games Ubisoft released that year.
The blockchain features were already on their way out
The shutdown announcement followed a major change to the game’s identity. In May 2026, Ubisoft said it would gradually move Champions Tactics away from blockchain functionality because of changes affecting the infrastructure behind its Web3 features.
Ubisoft then removed the ability to mint and sell the game’s NFT characters. Those characters were converted into standard in-game items, leaving the tactics game without the blockchain systems that helped define its original pitch.
Ubisoft also tied a reward to the game’s final period. Players who reached Divine rank at least once during the last three seasons became eligible for free items in Might & Magic Fates, Ubisoft’s digital trading card game. That title includes card earning and trading through an external marketplace powered by Immutable’s technology.
The closure leaves Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles with only a few months of service remaining. Players can continue playing until October 30, after which the servers will shut down.
