Farming Simulator 25 will turn coffee into one of the most involved operations in the Beans & Alpacas expansion when it arrives on October 27. On Catuaí, players will establish plantations, protect the plants from disease, harvest red coffee cherries, and send them through a production chain that can end with coffee drinks, tiramisu, and coffee yogurt.
Giants Software detailed the crop in its Steam preview. Coffee joins bananas as one of the expansion’s new crops, but its dedicated equipment and multi-step processing give it a very different rhythm from standard field work.
Coffee uses its own plantation system
Coffee plants pass through five growth states over an eight-month cycle. Players will not use a conventional seeder or manage a seed rate per hectare. Instead, plantations are placed through a dedicated system, and they can be installed throughout the year on Catuaí. The starting growth stage adjusts to the current season, allowing farmers to begin a plantation without waiting for a single placement window.
Large plantations should also be quicker to lay out. A boundary painting feature lets players mark the area they want to use, after which the game calculates a row direction and presents the projected layout. The angle, cost, and final arrangement can be adjusted before anything is placed, which should make the sloping fields around Catuaí much easier to organize.
Healthy plants lead to a specialized harvest
Coffee cultivation adds a maintenance step between planting and harvesting. The plants can develop fungal disease on their leaves, requiring fungicide once per harvest cycle. The KUHN AFS 600 plantation sprayer can treat two rows in one pass, while GPS guidance helps keep the machine centered between the tightly spaced plants. Players who prefer a simpler operation can also disable fungal disease treatment.
Once the fruit turns red, the crop is ready. The harvest consists of coffee cherries rather than coffee beans, and the Case IH Coffee Express 200 Multi drives over the rows to shake the cherries loose, collect them on a belt, and move them into its tank. A cleaning unit separates leaves during the process, while the plants visibly compress beneath the machine.
Unloading can happen without taking the harvester out of the plantation. A Colombo CTG 4500, pulled by a tractor such as the New Holland 8030, can follow between the rows and receive cherries directly. Farmers can then transfer the crop to a larger trailer outside the plantation instead of repeatedly sending the main harvester back to the edge.
Drying and roasting open several production paths
After harvest, the cherries can go to the Coffee Processing Plant. Players may use it as a selling point or take control of the facility and process the crop themselves. Drying turns the cherries into Coffee Bags, with the plant’s tanks, conveyors, and animated machinery showing the work rather than hiding the entire transformation.
Coffee Bags can then go to the Coffee Roastery, where they become Coffee Capsules or Packed Coffee. A Coffee Shop can turn the harvest into Coffee Beverages, while the Bakery uses Packed Coffee with eggs and flour to make Tiramisu. The Dairy combines coffee with sugar and milk for Coffee Yogurt, giving the crop several ways to feed into Catuaí’s wider economy.
