Danganronpa 2×2 Will Release on January 14, 2027 With an Introduction Trailer
The PS5 remake will include the original story and Slayhem mode, an alternate mystery with a different set of murders.

Danganronpa 2×2 is scheduled to release on PS5 on January 14, 2027, and its introduction trailer is now available. The game will remake Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair while adding a second murder mystery through its Slayhem mode.
Slayhem mode uses the same cast and setting as the original story, but replaces its murders with an entirely different case to solve. Both the original campaign and the new scenario will be available from the beginning, allowing returning players to revisit the familiar setting from a new angle.
Gemdrops, Inc. is developing the game, with Spike Chunsoft serving as publisher. The January 14 date gives Danganronpa 2×2 a clear place on the 2027 release calendar.
Slayhem mode changes the case, not the cast
Slayhem mode is built as an alternate storyline rather than a separate group of characters or a side activity. Players will work through a different sequence of murders and investigations while keeping the lineup and location that define the original sequel.
That approach makes Danganronpa 2×2 more than a visual upgrade for the original sequel. The remake preserves the story players already know while adding another route for anyone interested in seeing how the same characters fare under a different chain of events.
The project also revisits a sequel that nearly vanished after weak sales before Spike Chunsoft moved forward with it. Now, Danganronpa 2 is returning with an added scenario for PS5 players to tackle in January.
