Gray Zone Warfare will enter the Alpha stage this fall, giving MADFINGER Games’ tactical shooter its next major development milestone. Update 0.5 will lead that push with a new gameplay loop, a more detailed world, additional ways to obtain high-value loot, and further revelations tied to Ground Zero. Before announcing the fall Alpha transition, MADFINGER Games had shown early Update 0.5 material during a Gamescom 2026 developer stream in the Gamescom 2026 Update 0.5 preview.
MADFINGER Games outlined the plans in its Steam announcement, though it did not provide an exact date for the Alpha transition or Update 0.5. Instead, the studio said it will share more information gradually through its official channels.
Update 0.5 will expand Gray Zone Warfare
The update is being positioned as more than a routine content drop. Its new gameplay loop will give players another way to approach their time in Lamang, while the expanded world will add more environmental detail and new places to look for valuable loot. MADFINGER also teased more answers around Ground Zero, one of the game’s central mysteries.
A new trailer was presented during the first FPS Games Show, a collaborative showcase featuring studios from across the first-person shooter genre.
Gray Zone Warfare reaches 1.7 million copies sold
The Alpha announcement arrived alongside a sales milestone. Gray Zone Warfare has sold 1.7 million copies, and every edition is available at 30% off on Steam through September 15 at 1 PM EDT / 7 PM CEST.
With the transition still planned for this fall, the upcoming reveals will fill in how Update 0.5 changes the game’s core loop and what Ground Zero has left to uncover.
