DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 Will Let Players Build Fighters Around Mentors and Race Skills

Collecting MistyPix will help summon mentors whose Bond levels unlock Soul Assist, Soul Switch, Fighting Styles, and more.

DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 will give custom fighters a broad set of choices beyond their race and move list. Six avatar races, mentor bonds, selectable Fighting Styles, and Abilities that alter battle behavior all feed into the same build system, with the Android race joining the lineup.

The Steam announcement for DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 details how AGE 1000 turns customization into a progression path. Its West City hub will serve as the starting point for quests, story moments, shops, apartments, a university, and online interactions with other players.

Coins, boosts, BGM tracks, and MistyPix can be found throughout the city. MistyPix are especially important because they connect directly to the game’s mentor system.

Mentors unlock the deeper combat choices

With technology available in AGE 1000, Fortuneteller Gal can use MistyPix to summon characters into the world. Those characters then appear as mentors, offering quests and missions that help players raise their Bond level with each one.

Higher Bond levels open a mentor’s Skill Tree. Players can spend Bond points on options connected to that character, including Soul Assist, Soul Switch, Fighting Styles, and Super or Ultimate Attacks. The system gives each mentor a role beyond simply appearing as a story character.

Soul Assist calls a mentor into battle to provide effects such as buffs or additional attacks. Soul Switch takes the idea further by housing a mentor’s Soul inside the player’s avatar, giving the fighter that character’s appearance along with access to their techniques, Super Attacks, and Ultimate Attacks.

Awoken Skills now depend on Ki

Players who do not want to use Soul Switch can rely on the Awoken Skill tied to their avatar’s race. The six races can each develop in a different direction, and the Android race adds another option to that selection.

Awoken Skills will no longer run on a separate time limit. Their duration will depend on the player’s Ki Gauge, allowing the transformation to remain active as long as Ki is available. Reaching 0 Ki or entering Ki Break status will return the fighter to their standard form.

A new Ki Charge action will recover both Ki and the Awoken Skill gauge. Choosing when to transform, charge, or stay in the Awoken form will become part of managing a fight instead of relying on a fixed countdown.

Fighting Styles and Abilities alter the whole build

Fighting Styles will change an avatar’s motions and combos according to the selected Soul character. Each style works as a complete set of combat behaviors, covering how the fighter flies, idles, steps, guards, and links attacks together rather than asking players to choose each action separately.

Abilities add another layer of control. They can be linked to Battle Gear, costumes, equipped Souls, and the avatar’s race. Some adjust stats and parameters, while others change how the fighter handles combat by affecting Ki blast counts, attack range, evasion actions, or evasion distance.

With six avatar races, race-specific Awoken Skills, Soul Assist, Soul Switch, Fighting Styles, Abilities, and 130 characters to learn from, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 is putting personal expression at the center of its combat design. Players can follow the style of a favorite character, build around a mentor, or combine systems into something of their own.
