The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past drew the biggest Steam wishlist gain tied to Gamescom 2026, according to estimates from Alinea Analytics. The expansion added an estimated 451,000 wishlists between August 23 and August 30, leaving the rest of the event’s games well behind.
It was an unusual result for a show whose biggest reveal centered on an 11-year-old RPG. Songs of the Past was announced in May, but Gamescom’s Opening Night Live delivered the first proper look at the DLC and showed it alongside The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. The expansion takes place after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Blood and Wine, while The Witcher 4 is targeting 2028.
The remaster will arrive on September 29, 2026, as a free upgrade for existing owners. Songs of the Past is scheduled for 2027, although CD Projekt Red has not announced a specific release date.

The figures measure wishlist additions during that window rather than total wishlists, so they show which projects drew the most attention on Steam during Gamescom instead of predicting launch performance.

Warlock and Ananta followed The Witcher 3
Warlock ranked second with an estimated 379,000 new wishlists. Its nearly 10-minute gameplay presentation introduced a gritty D&D RPG world, while Maggie Robertson led the cast. Robertson is known for Oren the Red in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village.
Ananta came third at 302,000. The free-to-play open-world anime RPG featured high-speed vehicle chases, vehicular combat, and what appears to be a flying mechanic in its new trailer. Our coverage of Ananta’s January 2027 release window also details the game’s planned rollout.
Other Gamescom projects also passed 100,000 wishlists
Lego: Skylines was the strongest of the remaining entries with 273,000 wishlists, followed by Heroes of Might and Magic 3 at 189,000. Wardogs reached 146,000, Afterworld 121,000, Metro 2039 110,000, and The Blood of Dawnwalker at 108,000.
The numbers show that Gamescom created room for several different kinds of RPGs and strategy games, but Songs of the Past still finished with a clear lead. The Witcher 3’s long-running audience appears to have responded strongly to the prospect of returning to Geralt’s adventure.
