Hoyoverse Reveals Nodusfall, a Co-Op Action Game With a Dark Fantasy Edge

Geoff Keighley described Nodusfall as a mythical co-op adventure where teams of Weavers face divine beasts in a world warped by 10 suns.

Hoyoverse revealed Nodusfall during the August 25, 2026 Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, introducing a co-op action game that takes the studio in a very different visual and gameplay direction from Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero.

Geoff Keighley presented Nodusfall as a mythical action game centered on teams of Weavers battling divine beasts and other powerful beings. The game’s world appears to be caught in a cosmic collapse, with its divine order broken and 10 suns hanging in the sky. That impossible landscape gives the first reveal a wonderfully unsettling foundation.

The trailer also offered a better look at the creatures waiting in that world. Giant bears, enormous fox-like beasts moving in packs, a horned and winged manticore, and several dragons all appeared in the footage. Groups of 4 players seem to work together during these encounters, using close-range attacks and deliberate timing that bring a clear Monster Hunter influence to Nodusfall’s large-scale hunts.

HoYoverse is adding a few ideas of its own. One character appears to transform into a giant armored knight during a hunt, while another scene shows two players carrying out a coordinated execution animation. Characters also assist one another against enormous threats, giving Nodusfall a clear team-based hunting angle even though the full combat system remains unexplained.

The game’s presentation leans into a detailed fantasy style that feels closer to Monster Hunter and Elden Ring Nightreign than Hoyoverse’s familiar anime-inspired worlds. Its darker tone, broken divine order, and focus on powerful creatures make it look like a deliberate departure for the studio, especially when placed beside its current lineup.

Nodusfall is still being introduced, so the first presentation leaves questions about progression, equipment, monster materials, monetization, platforms, and launch plans. No release date has been announced. For now, the reveal establishes a co-op experience built around large-scale encounters and a fantasy setting unlike the one most players associate with Hoyoverse.
