The Switch 2’s UK price will rise by £24 on September 1

The UK price will rise by £24, while the Republic of Ireland price will increase by €30 on September 1.

Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost £419.99 in the UK starting September 1, 2026. The current UK price is £395.99, making that a £24 increase, although buyers still have time to purchase the console before the new price takes effect.

The Republic of Ireland will also see a price increase, with the console moving from €469.99 to €499.99. Northern Ireland is not included in the Republic of Ireland pricing change.

The company announced in May that Switch 2 pricing would rise in September, pointing to market conditions that it expects to affect costs over the medium to long term. At the time, Nintendo confirmed a $50 increase in the United States, bringing the console to $500, while Canada’s price will rise from C$629.99 to C$679.99. European pricing will rise by €30 to €499.99. Japan already received its adjustment on May 25, when Nintendo hardware prices rose by around ¥10,000, or about $63. Nintendo also apologized for the effect the new prices may have on customers and other stakeholders. UK and Republic of Ireland pricing was not announced until now.

Nintendo Store UK’s account on X shared the UK and Republic of Ireland pricing on August 20. The announcement from Nintendo Store UK confirms that the new prices will begin on September 1, giving shoppers a short window to buy at the current rates. Nintendo has not announced a specific time for the change.

Compared with other recent console price increases, Nintendo’s UK adjustment is relatively small. Sony raised PS5 prices by £90 earlier this year, while Microsoft increased the 512GB Xbox Series S by £130 and 1TB Xbox Series X|S models by £170. Valve’s Steam Deck also climbed from its £570 launch price to almost £800.

The timing may be useful for anyone planning to buy a Switch 2 ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake later this year. Waiting until after September 1 will mean paying the higher price, unless Nintendo announces another purchase option before then.
