Team Rocket’s Ambition Will Arrive in Pokémon TCG Pocket on August 27

The B4a set will be the mobile card game's first to feature Owner's Pokémon, with 11 revealed Pokémon cards and three Team Rocket-themed Trainer cards.

Team Rocket’s Ambition will arrive in Pokémon TCG Pocket on Thursday, August 27, 2026, bringing the notorious organization’s Pokémon into the mobile card game for its next monthly set. The release is still upcoming, with a follow-up feature and several in-game events planned around it.

The official reveal appeared in an X post from the Pokémon TCG Pocket account. Team Rocket’s Ambition will mark the first time Owner’s Pokémon have appeared in the mobile game, following their return to the physical Pokémon Trading Card Game in Journey Together.

Team Rocket’s Pokémon headline the new set

The reveal trailer features a wider Team Rocket lineup, including Houndour, Persian, Mewtwo, Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Lapras, Marowak, Tinkaton, Arbok, and Hypno. Most of the Pokémon shown carry the Team Rocket’s prefix. Giovanni also appears, alongside a full-art Tinkatink card that adds a little extra sparkle to the villain-themed lineup.

Three Trainer cards bring the trouble

Three Trainer cards were also shown, each one creating a different problem for the opposing player:

  • Team Rocket’s Boss Supporter: Look at your opponent’s hand and put any number of Basic Pokémon found there onto their Bench.
  • Team Rocket’s Master Plan Supporter: Your opponent’s Active Pokémon becomes Confused. After flipping a coin, your Active Pokémon also becomes Confused if the result is tails.
  • Team Rocket’s Thieving Machine Item: Put a random Item card from your opponent’s discard pile into your hand, excluding any Team Rocket’s Thieving Machine card.

The effects give the expansion a clear focus on disruption, targeting the opponent’s hand, Bench, Active Pokémon, and discard pile.

Team Rocket’s Ambition is the game’s B4a set. It follows last month’s Ruler of the Skies expansion, which introduced Mega Rayquaza, and draws its Team Rocket concept from the physical TCG’s Destined Rivals set. The expansion is expected to serve as the first of two mini sets connected to the current B era.

The second mini set has not been detailed, but it could bring the B era to a close with another special expansion similar to Deluxe Pack: ex. That earlier product guaranteed an ex card in every pack, though no such feature has been confirmed for the unannounced follow-up.

New events will follow the August 27 release

A feature called Shady Tickets will follow the set’s launch. Pokémon TCG Pocket will also host other events in the weeks ahead, including a Lapras Drop Event.
