Code Vein II will receive its Mask of Idris DLC on September 9, 2026. The story content takes players into The Forsaken World, a realm formed by the remnants of altered timelines, with two new partners, fresh combat abilities, new weapons, and bosses waiting inside.
Bandai Namco confirmed the release date in a PlayStation Blog announcement. A free update will launch alongside the DLC for all players, although the publisher has not detailed those additions here.
Players must meet certain conditions before they can enter the Mask of Idris content. Bandai Namco directs players to its official channels for the full access requirements.
Story spoilers ahead
The DLC trailer includes story details from the base game, so anyone still working through the main campaign may want to proceed carefully.
The Forsaken World and the Spindle of Pathos
Code Vein II’s changing history has left behind alternate spaces called Temporal Rifts. Each one preserves traces of a different branch created by the past actions of the hero Idris. The rift connected to Mask of Idris was supposed to fade away, but it kept expanding until it became The Forsaken World.
At the heart of this fractured realm sits the Spindle of Pathos, a huge force that pulls emotions from across time and space. Its growth threatens to consume the world the protagonists are trying to save, sending the player into a fight that reaches beyond a single timeline.

Two companions will join the journey. Liv Voda is the original guardian of the Temporal Rift and the half-sister of Valentin Voda. She abandoned her duties out of boredom and spent many years away from the frontier region. Her personality is combative, and her hair and eyes glow when her emotions rise.
Liv Voda brings aggressive melee support
Liv fights at close range with a Halberd, using quick movement and relentless attacks. Her Formae Chariot Rave lets her keep the pressure on enemies, while her Linkage Trait makes them easier to stagger with weapon attacks.

Her support Formae, Mad Blood Dance, raises both Liv’s attack power and the protagonist’s. Each successful hit extends the effect, giving coordinated attacks a clear reward and making her a strong partner for players who prefer constant pressure.

Lou Magmell has a different story
Lou Magmell also appears in The Forsaken World, but she is not the same Revenant girl encountered during the main story. This Lou entered the realm after suffering a separate tragedy, and the details of her past will emerge as the DLC’s story moves forward. Despite what happened to her, she joins the fight against the expanding world.

New Formae for the fight ahead
Mask of Idris also adds combat tools that give players more ways to handle groups and extend their combos. Grave Knocker is a martial arts Formae that works with every weapon type. It sends the player into an aerial kick that creates a shockwave on impact, followed by another shockwave after landing. Both blasts can stagger nearby enemies.
Sword of Karma has Idris summon a greatsword infused with the flames of Pathos. The Formae supports a string of heavy strikes and longer combos, with a final blow that sends those flames forward. Its reach gives the attack room to work at a distance while still rewarding players who commit to the full sequence.
Mask of Idris will launch on September 9, 2026, with its new story, allies, weapons, and battles. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow along on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
