Battlefield 6 Season 4 Brings Naval Warfare, Top Gun Jets, and Two Major Roadmap Drops

Season 4 begins July 21 with Tsuru Reef, new boats, three launch weapons, and a later Top Gun event featuring carrier battles and fighter jets.

Battlefield 6 Season 4 begins on July 21 at 4:00 a.m. PT (12:00 p.m. UTC), bringing naval combat, the Tsuru Reef map, new weapons, Ranked Battle Royale rewards, and a packed schedule of later-season content. EA outlined the full plan in its official Steam announcement.

The required Game Update 1.4.1.0 will launch alongside the season for both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC. EA said the update will include hundreds of gameplay changes, fixes, and smaller adjustments covering water gameplay, player movement, vehicles, menus, Portal creation, audio, REDSEC, and Ranked Battle Royale.

That is only the opening act. Season 4 will continue through the summer with Wake Island, a Top Gun crossover, additional weapons and attachments, Spectator Mode, Custom Lobbies, and a final phase called Tidal Strike.

Tsuru Reef opens the season

Tsuru Reef is the first major addition. The map is a sprawling Pacific island chain filled with luxury bungalows, tropical plant life, steep cliffs, a dormant volcano, and wide stretches of ocean. In the story, the area serves as a NATO base operated with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force while Pax Armata attacks the region.

The layout is built for combined-arms battles. Infantry, armor, aircraft, and boats will all have room to influence the fight, while tactical modes can use the island terrain and shoreline for more focused engagements.

Naval warfare returns to Multiplayer

Season 4 brings boats to Battlefield 6 Multiplayer, starting on Tsuru Reef and reaching Wake Island later in the season. The update adds two main naval vehicles.

  • RCB-90 patrol boat: A two-seat armored assault boat with a driver and gunner. The driver can use a 30mm autocannon and missiles, while the gunner fires 120mm mortar shells whose effects depend on customization.
  • 7.7m NSW RHIB: A four-seat light transport boat equipped with a machine gun. It is built for quick squad movement and originally appeared in REDSEC.

Water itself is also receiving a new system. The Dynamic Wave System will create moving waves, boat wakes, buoyant gadgets, underwater explosions, and changing interactions between bullets and the water’s surface. Players will also be able to drag and revive teammates while swimming or after a boat is destroyed.

EA has published a dedicated naval warfare guide covering the new boats and their role in combat. We also have a closer look at the RCB-90 and RHIB ahead of the season launch.

Three weapons arrive with the launch Battle Pass

Season 4 will add three rifles through the launch Battle Pass, giving Assault, Frontliner, Grenadier, and other weapon-focused loadouts more options.

  • EF88: A bullpup assault rifle designed for mid- to long-range fights. Its slow rate of fire, steady damage, and manageable recoil make it most suitable for engagements from roughly 20 to 75 meters.
  • BROD 3: A customizable NATO carbine for close- to mid-range combat. It has a fast firing rate and good mobility, with attachment choices playing a major role in its performance.
  • VSSM: A designated marksman rifle with an integrated suppressor and subsonic ammunition. It can also operate in fully automatic mode, giving players a stealth-focused option that can switch to faster follow-up fire.

Two attachments will be available at launch through Challenge Assignments. The 4″ Shotgun Barrel Extension increases projectile velocity for most non-double-barrel shotguns, but reduces aim-down-sight speed and mobility. It costs five Attachment Points at launch instead of the usual 10.

The 1p86 LPVO offers 1.5x and 4.5x magnification, putting it slightly above the SU-230 LPVO’s 1.0x and 4.0x settings.

Top Gun arrives on August 18

The next major roadmap stage begins on August 18 with the Top Gun limited-time event. It will add two themed modes, event challenges, cosmetics, a limited-time currency, and the CJTF Helix squad unit, which is based around Top Gun characters.

Top Gun: Carrier Strike is a reworked Multiplayer mode focused on destroying the opposing team’s aircraft carrier. Ground forces, naval units, and aviation squads will have to work together. Infantry must break through defensive lines, boats help open a route, and pilots attack from above while watching for anti-aircraft fire.

REDSEC Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a jets-only mode built around two-seat fighter aircraft. Squads will compete in dogfights while managing enemy jets and anti-aircraft threats.

The event will add two new aircraft:

  • F/A-81F Super Spectre: A two-seat fighter jet designed for coordinated attacks with a wingman.
  • F-74A Seacat: A twin-seat fighter with swing-wings that can adjust to different flight situations.

Players will also be able to unlock the Interdictor sniper rifle through the event. EA describes it as Battlefield 6’s longest-range sniper rifle and says it can be used to target pilots from the ground.

Wake Island returns later in the season

Wake Island will return to Battlefield 6 Multiplayer during Season 4. The map is based on its Battlefield V: War in the Pacific version while retaining its roots in Battlefield 1942.

The reworked island will feature shoreline defenses, bridges that can be destroyed with C-4, and an offshore aircraft carrier. Its coastal layout will also connect with the season’s naval combat focus.

Tsuru Reef will expand with aircraft carriers

Tsuru Reef is not finished at launch. A later expansion will add playable aircraft carriers and a larger combat area. The expanded version will also bring back Carrier Strike in a bigger setting built around land, sea, and air operations.

Battlefield Portal will receive two tools during the season as well. Custom Lobbies will provide a pre-match space for arranging players, assigning teams, and setting administrative rules across Battlefield 6 Multiplayer and REDSEC. Spectator Mode will add four dedicated spectator slots with first-person, third-person, and free-camera views.

EA said these tools will be used in upcoming REDSEC community competitive tournaments.

More weapons and attachments are planned

Two more attachments are scheduled to arrive during the season. The Canted Vertical Grip will be available for most LMGs and will improve hip-fire accuracy and weapon draw speed, though it will cost Attachment Points.

The Hybrid Suppressor combines suppressor and muzzle-brake functions. Its L, S, and K variants offer different trade-offs involving hip-fire accuracy, weapon sway, draw speed, recoil, and spotting. More optic choices are also planned for the final phase of Season 4.

Tidal Strike begins September 15

Season 4 will enter its final phase on September 15 with Tidal Strike. The phase will feature a Collection Event with the Royal Navy Dive Knife as an earnable reward, along with more Portal updates.

REDSEC will receive two additional features during Tidal Strike. Proximity Chat will debut as a Battlefield Labs in Live experience, and the Phantom Program challenge will send players after intelligence connected to Fort Lyndon’s security system.

Ranked Battle Royale gets a fresh reward pool

REDSEC Ranked Battle Royale Season 4 will refresh its permanent rewards. The pool includes Playercard backgrounds, titles, icons, Soldier Patches, Vehicle Decals, and other items.

Players who finish above Rookie will receive a Brodie Soldier Skin themed around their final rank. Bronze players receive a bronze-patterned version, while Gold and Diamond ranks receive more elaborate designs. The number-one competitor in the Elite 250 will earn the S4 Eliminator Soldier Skin.

The season will also adjust Ranked Points awarded for kills and assists. EA has published a full Ranked Battle Royale update with the details.

Season 3 progress ends soon

Players have until the Season 4 launch window to finish their Season 3 Battle Pass, including the Ultimate and Prestige Paths. EA also listed pre-purchase options for the Season 4 Battle Pass and BF Pro in Battlefield 6 and REDSEC.

The Hunt the Carrier community event will continue daily at 5:00 p.m. CEST / 8:00 a.m. PT through the final reveal on July 20. Each day brings another clue, with players working together to uncover the mystery and unlock a daily Season 4 preview.

Battlefield 6 Season 4 starts on July 21, while Top Gun arrives on August 18 and Tidal Strike follows on September 15. Tell us which part of the roadmap you want to try first in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
