Version 1.8 is live on June 25
Gearbox pushed Borderlands 4 Version 1.8 live on June 25, and the update bundles three big pieces together: Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For, the free Takedown at Hadron Abyss, and the return of Circle of Slaughter for every player.

Bounty Pack 3 is split into two paid parts at $5.99 USD each. One purchase covers the new story content and gear, while the other unlocks Vault Card 3 with cosmetics and gear. Players who own the Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, or the Bounty Pack Bundle already have both parts, though owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Epic still need to open the separate storefront listings to redeem or download them.
The update also turns on Cross-Platform Saves. Gearbox points players to its SHiFT account guide and the Cross-Platform Saves Support page for the setup steps.
Circle of Slaughter is back
Circle of Slaughter is back as a free wave mode once players finish Wrath of the Ripper Queen and unlock Moxxi’s Bottoms Up! in Carcadia Burn. Zane’s Silent Crisis: Time Scope 5 cabinet starts the run, and each attempt can run through five rounds with three enemy waves per round. The third wave adds a boss, then the prize room gives players the choice to cash out or push forward for a bigger haul.
In co-op, death puts you in a penalty box instead of ending the run. From there, you can toss confetti, dump waste, send elemental barrels into the arena, or even spawn a Badass enemy that can free the team if it falls. If you join a friend’s run between rounds, you spawn into the map, while joining during a wave drops you into the penalty box.
Gearbox also shared quick looks at the new raid and the returning arena.

Takedown at Hadron Abyss brings new loot
Takedown at Hadron Abyss is the new endgame raid. It takes players into an underwater research station filled with mutated enemies and aquatic predators, and the final fight is against the Child of Terramorphous. Gearbox says players need to clear the main campaign before they can start the activity from Raid Boards in major hub areas, and it recommends Level 50 before trying it.
The loot table includes one Pearlescent weapon and nine Legendary pieces:
- Shark Bait (Tediore Shotgun) – damage builds Chum stacks until the target explodes.
- Ishmael (Order Sniper Rifle) – harpoons that apply bleed damage over time.
- Shoals (Jakobs Pistol) – critical hits deal splash damage, and ricochets create novas.
- Marshall’s Claw (Maliwan Sniper Rifle) – a three-projectile burst that speeds up after each shot.
- Swan Song (Daedalus Shotgun) – primary-fire kills launch explosive cannonball shots from the underbarrel.
- Fishward (Jakobs Assault Rifle) – hits spawn fish projectiles that swim toward nearby enemies and can power up your next magazine after kills.
- Little Sister (Tediore Shield) – when the shield breaks, it summons a drone that fires at nearby enemies when you land hits.
- Vitae (Jakobs Repkit) – critical hits heal you.
- Ordinance (Tediore Grenade Ordnance) – a book-shaped grenade that sheds damaging pages as it flies.
- Draupner (Order Heavy Weapon Ordnance) – a multi-projectile weapon that keeps throwing more shots back toward you after hits, bounces, or a timer runs out.
Gearbox already has the next stretch mapped out. Bounty Pack 4: Murders & Acquisitions lands on July 30 with Version 1.9, while Story Pack 2, Bounty Pack 5, and Loveless the Hacker are due in early September. Those roadmap details also line up with Borderlands 4 is turning June 25 into a busy day for Vault Hunters.
There is plenty here for Vault Hunters who wanted more endgame activity, and the next few content drops are already lined up. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
