Forza Horizon 6 PC specs start easy, then climb fast

Playground Games listed four PC tiers, from a 1080p Low preset on a GTX 1650 to 4K ray tracing on an RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 9070 XT.

Forza Horizon 6 is headed to PC, and Playground Games has already posted the official requirements on the game’s Steam listing. The full spec sheet covers everything from a forgiving 1080p setup to much heavier 4K ray tracing, and the PC feature list calls out uncapped framerates, ultrawide resolutions, ray-traced reflections and global illumination, controller and wheel support, plus Steam Deck and Xbox ROG Ally support.

Minimum PC requirements

The base tier targets 1080p at 60 FPS on the Low preset. Players will need an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, along with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT, or Intel Arc A380.

  • 16GB RAM
  • SSD storage
  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer

That is a pretty easy starting point by modern racing-game standards, even if the SSD requirement rules out older hard-drive-only setups.

Recommended PC requirements

The recommended tier moves the target to 1440p at 60 FPS or higher on the High preset. For the CPU, Playground Games lists an Intel Core i5-12400F or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, or Intel Arc A580
  • 16GB RAM
  • SSD storage
  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer

For most players, this is the most practical target if they want a clean balance between image quality and performance without stepping into expensive hardware.

Extreme PC requirements

The Extreme preset is where the asks rise sharply. This tier targets 4K at 60 FPS or higher, and Playground Games lists an Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X on the CPU side.

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
  • 24GB RAM
  • NVMe SSD
  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer

For a setting called Extreme, the GPU demand is heavy but still readable for high-end PC players. The RAM jump is the bigger wrinkle here.

Extreme RT requirements

The top tier, Extreme RT, pushes the game to 4K upscaled at 60 FPS or higher with ray tracing enabled. It keeps the same CPU requirement as the regular Extreme preset, but the graphics card demand climbs again.

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
  • 32GB RAM
  • NVMe SSD
  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer

This is the tier for players who want ray tracing turned on across the board and do not mind building around it.

SSD support, handhelds, and launch timing

Forza Horizon 6 requires an SSD on PC across every tier, with NVMe listed for the top two presets. That makes sense for an open-world racer that needs fast storage to move world data without stalling.

According to the official FAQ, Forza Horizon 6 will launch on May 19, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass will cover it on day one, Premium Edition buyers will get early access on May 15, and a PlayStation 5 version is planned for later in 2026.
