Embark Studios is not done yet. After The Finals’ surprise success and the long-awaited launch of Arc Raiders, the studio’s CEO says the team is juggling two unannounced online projects, and one of them is meant to be a bit edgier than what the studio has shipped so far.
The Finals quietly burst onto the scene in 2023 and quickly drew a massive audience. Arc Raiders, a sci‑fi extraction shooter first shown in 2021 and delayed during development, arrives at a crowded moment on the release calendar. Despite that, Embark’s leadership says the studio already has more in the pipeline beyond those two games. In an interview with The Game Business, CEO Patrick Soderlund confirmed the studio is working on two additional online titles. He described one concept as having “a lot more edge” than The Finals or Arc Raiders, while the other is “a little bit more conventional.” Beyond that, details were scarce and the studio did not say whether these projects tie into existing worlds or how far along they are.
That leaves a fair bit of wiggle room. Embark previously positioned Arc Raiders as a long‑term project, calling it a 10‑year game and saying it would not publish a public roadmap before launch, which gives the studio latitude to pivot or expand ideas over time. Read more on that context in our coverage of Embark calling Arc Raiders a 10-year game. Arc Raiders’ actual launch timing has been a point of interest given the crowded schedule; for details on when players can jump in, see our guide to Arc Raiders release times. Short version: Embark appears to want to keep building online shooters and co-op experiences, but it also wants to experiment with at least one concept that leans toward a different tone. How that translates to gameplay, monetization, or story remains unknown until the studio shares more.
