Summer is arriving, and Marvel Rivals is jumping right into the season with five fresh swimsuit skins. These new costumes, revealed by NetEase, are turning heads, primarily because of one particularly audacious choice: Punisher sporting a skull-themed Speedo. Yes, really.
Executive producer Danny Koo announced on social media the return of the legendary Marvel Swimsuit Special, scheduled for July 9, in conjunction with the comic release titled Marvel Swimsuit Special: Friends, Foes & Rivals #1. This issue will showcase the designs for these upcoming costumes, which will be available in Marvel Rivals this summer.

Among the five new skins are characters Psylocke, Luna Snow, Loki, Thor, and the infamous Punisher. While the entire set looks sharp and scandalous—typical of NetEase, the Punisher’s outfit is generating the most chatter, thanks to his skull codpiece Speedo. Some players on Reddit are stunned by the boldness, while others note it’s a nod to the classic Marvel Swimsuit Specials, keeping a bit of history alive.
Personally, Psylocke’s skin caught my eye with its lively colors, but Thor’s bag stuffed with Loki and Hela plushies, Loki’s sunglasses-wearing alligator, and the Punisher’s super soaker-themed gun palette are all delightful touches. It’s a mix of playful and cheeky that perfectly fits the summer vibe.
Details about how players will get these skins remain scarce. It’s unclear if they’ll be event rewards or simply available in the in-game shop. I’m hoping at least one skin will be free to earn—probably one of the simpler ones like Luna Snow or Thor, while the more elaborate costumes might cost between £15-£20.
