Dark and Darker is experiencing some severe downtime which apparently is caused by some serious database issue.
Over on X, the developer said they must pull the plug on the servers because of a database update error. This isn’t just a hiccup, it’s a full-on emergency maintenance situation. Yeah, it sucks, but these things happen. Better to fix it right than let it linger, right? The post on X can be found below:

The devs over at Ironmace are busting their butts to make sure this kind of downtime becomes a thing of the past. They’re tweaking the updates to be smoother, aiming to keep us all in the game without these interruptions. Props to them for that.
Recently, Dark and Darker became available on Epic Games and Steam, which has naturally boosted its popularity and player base too. Until the servers are back up, there’s nothing to do but hope for the best and fastest recovery.
