War Thunder Update 2.59.0.11 Fixes Missile Intercepts and Vehicle Bugs

The changelog also adds camouflage tasks, renames a smaller-team air mode to Tactical Skies, and adjusts Nuclear Escalation escort ships.

War Thunder Update 2.59.0.11 addresses several missile behavior problems, vehicle model issues, and interface quirks across the game. Gaijin Entertainment published the changelog on September 17, 2026, in its Steam announcement. The hotfix follows War Thunder’s September 16 Sky Odyssey launch, which introduced Sky Odyssey’s new vehicles, permanent modes, and broad missile revisions on September 16.

The biggest gameplay changes affect missile interception. Proximity fuzes now handle missile-on-missile encounters more accurately, while anti-radiation missiles will no longer detonate early after reacting to enemy projectiles. Nuclear Escalation also receives smarter escort ship behavior, including independent target engagement and improved radar tracking.

Several vehicles receive targeted corrections as well. The Leopard 2HEL is now listed at 63 tons instead of 59.9, the M18 family gets multiple model fixes, and new camouflage tasks arrive for vehicles including the H145M, F-102A, and J-16. The smaller-team Air Realistic Battles mode has also been renamed Tactical Skies.

  • MiG-35, MiG-29KR (9-41R) — the aircraft now behaves better in maneuvers at high altitudes and speeds on control schemes that use instructor.
  • ASM-3 anti-ship-missile — a bug that caused the air intake to not open after launch has been fixed.

Ground Vehicles

  • M18, M18 “Black Cat”, M18 (China), M18 (Italy) — a bug that caused the barrel to have an incorrect texture has been fixed. (Report).
  • M18, M18 (China), M18 (Italy) — a bug that caused the muzzle break and mudflaps to not display on the model has been fixed. (Report).
  • Leopard 2HEL — mass has been increased from 59.9 to 63 tons. Source: Archived webpage from Hellenic Army General Staff Website.
  • ASU-57 — a bug that caused the gun to not traverse has been fixed. (Report).
  • M1 KVT — a bug that caused the side skirts to disappear when the Vismod modification was installed has been fixed. (Report). Equivalent protection values of the composite armor have been corrected. (Report).
  • M1A2 SEP — a bug that caused the side skirts to disappear when the TUSK ERA kit was installed has been fixed.
  • Breda 501 — gun depression angle has been increased from -4° to -5°. Horizontal aiming limits have been reduced from -145°/+145° to -90°/+90°. Source: “Semovente Breda 501, caratteristiche dell’autocannone da 90/53 su autotelaio speciale tubolare Breda a 6 ruote tutte motrici” 27 luglio 1943.
  • ARL-44, ARL-44 (ACL-1) — a bug that caused the machine gun in the hull to rotate with the turret has been fixed. (Report).
  • Antelope — a bug that allowed the tracking radar to rotate to the target has been fixed. (Report).
  • PzH 2000 (Italy) — the LWS/LR modification has been moved from tier II of modification research to tier IV.

Naval Vessels

  • R-310, R-301 — a bug that caused the torpedoes to launch backwards has been fixed. (Report).

Interface

  • Weapon icons on the tactical map now appear on a layer below player markers and do not overlap them.
  • The ability to switch the vehicle type in the crew training window has been added.
  • A bug that caused the Secondary Weapons menu to open when interacting with interface elements “in front of” the weapons presented around the aircraft in the hangar has been fixed.
  • The Air Realistic Battles game mode with smaller team sizes has been renamed to “Tactical Skies” and its description has been adjusted to highlight that it is a variant of the Classic game mode.
  • A bug that sometimes caused the cursor texture to get replaced with a random texture has been fixed. (Report).

Customization

  • H145M, A-4PTM (Japan), A-7H (Israel), Ar 234 B-2 (WB 151), CA-27 Mk.32 (Japan), F-102A (Israel), J-16 — tasks for obtaining camouflages have been added.
  • A bug where progress was not tracking for decal tasks unlocked using vehicles from Hungary, the Netherlands, Finland, Malaysia, Switzerland, Belgium, Thailand, and Greece has been fixed. (Report, Report).
  • 11th Tankbataljon Emblem — the vehicle rank requirements for decal acquisition have been corrected.
  • All owners of the removed AH-64A (GR) (USA) have been granted the “Hellenic Air Force Camouflage” for the AH-64A Peten (Israel).

Locations and Missions

  • A bug that caused aircraft carriers to disappear in some missions at the start of the mission if there were 5 or less players in a team, causing aircraft to spawn in the water has been fixed. (Report).

Damage Model

  • A bug that caused the the proximity fuze to work incorrectly during missile-on-missile intercepts has been fixed: surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles were missing rapidly approaching enemy missiles, detonating slightly before the point of closest approach. Missile interactions with aircraft and ground vehicles remain unchanged.
  • The proximity fuze on anti-radiation missiles no longer triggers on enemy projectiles or missiles, including surface-to-air missiles, launched to intercept them. Previously, this caused premature detonation before the missile reached the target radar.

Nuclear Escalation

  • A bug that caused the main-caliber SAM systems on escort ships to work incorrectly has been fixed. Previously, the center of the ship model was used to check for line-of-sight between the radar and the target, which could lead to target loss and tracking interruptions. The system now uses the radar’s actual position on the ship and missiles now correctly track targets using data from it.
  • Escort ships now engage aerial targets independently of one another and of land-based air defense missile systems. Previously, other ships would ignore a target already being engaged by a single ship or air defense system, leaving the majority of the fleet idle.
  • 9M38 and 9M38M1 missiles of AI SAMs — the flight models of the missiles have been adjusted. The missile’s autopilots have been updated.

Sound

  • A bug where the destructive vibration (flutter) sound would occur in the cockpit at speeds above Mach 1.3 at high altitudes on aircraft with higher maximum speeds has been fixed. This sound now correctly scales with altitude.

Graphics

  • A bug that caused the reflections in rear-view mirrors in cockpits to blink or turn black when using Vulkan graphics API has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused the game to crash on Macs with Intel GPUs when entering the premium hangar has been fixed.

Patch notes reflect only key changes, meaning they may not include a complete list of all improvements made. Additionally, War Thunder is constantly being updated and some changes may not require an update. Changes reflected in patch notes are formed by taking reactions and requests of the community from the bug reporting service, forums and other official platforms into account. Bug fixes and changes are implemented in order of importance, for example a game-breaking bug will be worked on and implemented sooner.
