Valheim 1.0.17 Is Scheduled for Oct. 6 With a Rare World-Save Fix
The update will also reset invalid item styles to default and restore the credits hidden by 1.0.16.

Iron Gate has scheduled Valheim 1.0.17 for Oct. 6, with a fix for a rare save-file problem that could erase all objects in parts of a world. The Steam announcement says the patch will take a few days to reach every platform because of internal restrictions. Crossplay will remain functional during that rollout.
After 1.0.16’s Deep North and achievement fixes, the new patch turns to world-save integrity and invalid item styles. It will also update placeholder text and restore the credits that were hidden in 1.0.16.
One item fix addresses an invalid shield variant that was available on PlayStation 5 in 1.0.15. Invalid styles will reset to their default appearance and keep functioning normally.
Valheim 1.0.17 Patch Notes
- Fixed a rare bug that could erase all objects in parts of the world when one large world save chunk file was split into smaller ones.
- Fixed invalid item types (most importantly invalid shield of root variant that was available in 1.0.15 on PlayStation®5) causing buggy behaviour. Now invalid styles just reset to the default style and continue functioning normally.
- Updated some placeholder text.
- Fixed credits being hidden in 1.0.16.
