The German Su-22M4 WTD61 Is Back in War Thunder at 30% Off
The premium fighter-bomber costs 6,415 Golden Eagles through August 3 at 09:00 GMT before returning to its regular 9,450 Golden Eagles price.

War Thunder has brought back the German Su-22M4 WTD61 for a limited-time discount tied to the anniversary of the Su-17 prototype’s first flight. The premium aircraft is available for 6,415 Golden Eagles, which is 30% below its standard price.
The offer runs from July 31 at 09:00 GMT through August 3 at 09:00 GMT. Players can find the aircraft under Germany > Aviation > Premium vehicles. Gaijin Entertainment outlined the promotion in its Steam announcement.
The timing marks the first flight of the Su-17 fighter-bomber prototype on August 2, 1966. Test pilot Vladimir Ilyushin flew the aircraft, which became the USSR’s first design with variable-sweep wings. More than 2,800 aircraft were produced across the family, including the export-focused Su-20 and Su-22 variants.

What the Su-22M4 WTD61 brings
The Su-22M4 WTD61 is based on aircraft delivered to East Germany during the mid-1980s. After German reunification, some of those aircraft moved to the Bundeswehr’s military-technical test center for aviation, known as WTD61. In War Thunder, this version stands apart from the standard model through its German camouflage.
Like the Soviet Su-17M4, the aircraft offers strong flight performance and a broad selection of countermeasures. Its weapon options also include TV-guided Kh-29T air-to-surface missiles and all-aspect R-60MK air-to-air missiles, giving it tools for both ground attacks and air combat.
Once the promotion ends, the Su-22M4 WTD61 will remain available as a Golden Eagles premium vehicle for its full price of 9,450 Golden Eagles.
