Subnautica 2’s Bloom Infestations Have One Clear Fix

You can scan two degraded Sonic Resonators at the Welcome Home POI, roughly 375 meters north of the Lifepod, then craft the tool with a Basic Battery, two Titanium Ingots, two Lead, and a Wiring Kit.

Bloom Infestations in Subnautica 2 are the kind of problem that can turn a quiet run into a mess fast. The areas are packed with small, fast enemies that hit hard, but the game gives you one proper answer for the job: the Sonic Resonator.

Before you can use it, you need to find and scan two degraded Sonic Resonators. Once both are scanned, the crafting recipe opens up and you can build your own version.

Where to find the Sonic Resonator

The easiest place to start is the Welcome Home POI, which sits roughly 375 meters north of the Lifepod. There are two Sonic Resonators ready to scan. One is in the entrance on a shelf to the right, and the other is in the next room on the floor to the left.

You do not need to hunt down every copy in the world. Scanning just those two is enough to unlock the recipe, and abandoned structures are where you are most likely to run into them while playing normally.

How to craft it

Once the recipe is unlocked, the Sonic Resonator requires a few higher-tier materials:

  • 1x Basic Battery
  • 2x Titanium Ingots
  • 2x Lead
  • 1x Wiring Kit

It is also useful outside of Bloom Infestations. The tool can be charged up and used to break the large ore clusters that stay locked until you have the right equipment, which makes it a strong pickup for general exploration too.

How to clear Bloom Infestations

To clear a Bloom Infestation, charge the Sonic Resonator and fire at the glowing white buds. Each charged blast destroys one bud, and every bud in the area has to go before the infestation is gone.

The Bloom fish will keep darting at you and dealing damage, and they can be killed with the Sonic Resonator too. Even so, it is usually better to ignore them and focus on the buds first. Once the buds are gone, the fish die off with them.

After that, the area counts as cleared and you will see that you have cleansed a Bloom Node. There are two nodes total, and you can find them by following the winding purple roots. Clear both of them and you will unlock a new Angel Comb, which grants a key Adaptation.

If you are pushing through Subnautica 2, the Sonic Resonator is worth tracking down as soon as you can. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
