Silent Hill: Townfall Patch 1.4.0 Makes The Weight Less Punishing

The update also adjusts stealth and melee combat and adds a manual for the final console puzzle.

Silent Hill: Townfall’s version 1.4.0 update is live, and its most direct change removes instant death from The Weight’s grab attacks on Story and Normal difficulties.

The patch fulfills Screen Burn’s September 30 plan to rebalance The Weight. Its grabs now deal heavy damage instead of killing Simon outright. Search behavior has also been adjusted to keep the creature from lingering around objectives or repeatedly checking the same location, while its hunting behavior tracks the player less aggressively.

Stealth changes affect other enemies, too. They are now less sensitive to the sounds of firearms, running, and entering a hiding space, giving players more room to move without drawing attention.

Melee combat has received several adjustments. Enemies are less likely to counter quickly after a player lands a melee hit, cannot grapple someone who is blocking with a melee weapon, and leave players more time to react after they escape a grapple.

The final console puzzle also gets an in-game aid. Version 1.4.0 adds a collectible manual that players can consult for the commands needed to operate the console.
