Phasmophobia Hotfix Reworks Equipment Slot Assignments

Version 0.18.0.1 changes how picked-up items receive slots and gives Igniters a default slot of 4.

Phasmophobia version 0.18.0.1 was deployed on July 28, 2026, with a small hotfix focused on equipment and item slot assignments. The update changes how slots are given out as players pick up gear, while also setting a new default for Igniters.

Kinetic Games shared the complete changes in its official Steam announcement. Flashlights are no longer forced into slot 1, and equipment will now follow the order in which it was collected.

Phasmophobia v0.18.0.1 Patch Notes

This hotfix gives players more control over their equipment layout during investigations. Items and equipment picked up during a contract will fill slots from 1 through 3 in pickup order, while Igniters will automatically use slot 4.

Changes

  • Items and Equipment will now be assigned a slot in the order they are picked up from 1-3. Flashlights will no longer be locked to 1. Igniters will default to 4.

The change should make gear assignments more predictable, especially for players who want their equipment arranged around a preferred investigation routine.

Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia is a cooperative horror investigation game played from a first-person perspective, supporting one to four players. Players take on the role of ghost hunters who must identify the type of ghost haunting a designated location by gathering evidence using various paranormal investigation equipment. The game features speech recognition, allowing ghosts and certain equipment to respond to words spoken by players. As investigators spend time at the site, their sanity decreases, eventually triggering hunts during which the ghost actively pursues and can kill players. The game includes multiple location types of varying size, twenty-nine ghost types each with unique behaviors and evidence, and a progression system where players earn money to unlock and upgrade equipment. Virtual reality is optionally supported.
