Peak patch 1.52.a adds maps and removes holiday event changes

Released January 6, 2026, the small update restores more maps to matchmaking, keeps Alpine's snow piles, and leaves scorpions aggressive until a follow-up fix.

Peak released patch 1.52.a on January 6, 2026, a short update that adjusts the map rotation and pulls the holiday event changes out of the live build while leaving some snow on Alpine.

The developer also shared that PEAK won the Steam Awards Better With Friends category. For players tracking Alpine’s return, that map keeps its snow piles after previously being re-added in August’s 1.24.a update, which explained why Alpine still shows festive terrain in some matches.

Patch notes

This is a small maintenance patch that removes the bulk of the holiday changes and adds more maps into normal rotation. It also includes a developer note that enemy behavior still needs verification, which affects how you should approach certain foes until next week’s build.

  • Removed the holiday event changes (except snow piles which can still be found in Alpine)
  • Added more maps into the rotation

Also, in our last patch we accidentally made the scorpions really mean. Unfortunately, because we all just got back from holiday, we haven’t had a chance to verify a fixed build with QA. So, the scorpions are going to stay mean until next week’s fixes. For this week, I would avoid trying to pick them up if I were you unless you enjoy getting stung in the face!
