HEROIC Beats ASTRAL 2-0 to Reach the Esports World Cup 2026 Round of 16
nilo led the series with 43 kills and a 2.11 rating, including a 20-3 performance on Inferno.

HEROIC advanced to the Round of 16 at the Esports World Cup 2026 Open Qualifier after beating ASTRAL 2-0 in Paris. The series ended 13-11 on Cache before HEROIC closed it out with a 13-2 win on Inferno, as reflected in the full match record.
ASTRAL picked Cache, while HEROIC chose Inferno. Dust2 remained unused as the potential decider after the veto removed Mirage and Nuke for ASTRAL and Anubis and Ancient for HEROIC.
nilo powers HEROIC across both maps
nilo was the difference-maker throughout the series, finishing with a 43-16 kill-death record, 109.4 ADR, and a 2.11 rating. His best work came on Inferno, where he posted 20 kills against only three deaths and earned a 2.54 rating.
Cache was much tighter. HEROIC reached 13 rounds with a 9-4 split on its T and CT sides, while ASTRAL answered with 11 rounds from an 8-3 split. nilo still led HEROIC with 23-13 and a 1.85 rating, although ASTRAL’s swiz topped the map’s individual kill count at 23.
Inferno was a different story. HEROIC collected 10 T-side rounds before adding three on defense, leaving ASTRAL with only two CT-side rounds. MartinezSa supported nilo with a 15-6 scoreline and a 1.83 rating, while swiz was ASTRAL’s top performer across the series despite finishing 27-28 with a 1.07 rating.

HEROIC projected to climb in the VRS
The projected Valve Regional Standings movement has HEROIC rising from No. 27 to No. 25, adding 24 points for a total of 1,517. ASTRAL remains at No. 90 after a projected two-point decrease, leaving it with 1,058 points. The August 9 VRS projection is not an official finalized update, since the ranking refreshes once per month and the estimate may not include every factor used in the calculation.
