FACEIT Fixes Counter-Strike 2 Spawn Bug After STYKO’s Warning

The issue let players predict enemy spawn locations after switching sides between the knife and pistol rounds.

FACEIT has fixed a Counter-Strike 2 bug that kept spawn locations from changing after the knife round. The issue made it possible to predict where opponents would appear at the start of the pistol round.

The problem was especially useful for teams that began the knife round on the Terrorist side before switching to Counter-Terrorists for the pistol. Because the spawn positions stayed the same, players could prepare for specific enemy locations and take advantage of favorable spawns.

The issue came to wider attention after Martin “STYKO” Styk posted a video demonstrating the behavior. FACEIT later confirmed that the spawn bug had been fixed in an official post, addressing an exploit that could give teams an unfair edge during the opening round.

STYKO’s original demonstration showed why the bug mattered for competitive matches, particularly when teams used side selection to gain information before the pistol round.

FACEIT’s fix removes that predictable pattern, so players should once again receive randomized spawn locations after the knife round.

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed and published by Valve. Released in September 2023, it is the fifth main entry in the Counter-Strike series and serves as a direct replacement for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. Two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, compete in objective-based rounds across modes such as bomb defusal and hostage rescue. Built on the Source 2 engine, the game introduced volumetric smoke physics, revised weapon handling, and a new sub-tick server architecture. It inherited all cosmetic items from its predecessor and features both a map-specific Competitive mode and a numerically ranked Premier mode.
