Gears of War: E-Day Hotfix Targets Crashes as Halloween Modes Arrive
The update fixes issues across Campaign, Horde Siege, and Versus, while Trick-or-Treat and a Boogeyman Horde Siege mission headline the seasonal event.

The Coalition deployed a hotfix for Gears of War: E-Day on October 22, targeting stability, performance, and crashes across PC, Xbox, and handhelds. The October 22 Steam announcement also details fixes for Campaign, Horde Siege, and Versus.
The update follows an October 14 patch that addressed problems across those same modes. This round includes a fix for a Gnasher aiming animation, a correction to Xbox Cloud Gaming’s default graphics setting, and several campaign progression and multiplayer issues.
The Halloween event brings limited-time modes and missions with rewards. In Versus Trick-or-Treat, teams battle for the Jack-o-Cannon and search pumpkins across the map for special weapons and tricks. Horde Siege sends players against the Boogeyman and his glowing gourd goons.
The Coalition is reviewing Versus balance feedback and working on Season 1 updates, with more details to come. It is also preparing a hotfix for a Versus exploit that lets players see through Smoke Grenades. The developer says it has taken enforcement action against users exploiting that issue and others, including aimbots. Reports of freezing or crashing during long play sessions remain under investigation. Players can send bug reports through Gears Support.
